beef, salt, pepper. keep the burger simple, and add your choice of condiments on top.

Some people like to throw in peppers and onions and maybe some garic when they are makin the burgers. I'm a fan of putting jalapenos in the burgers and then put pepperjack cheese on top.

I'm sick of just plain ground beef, I get quality **** and there still isn't enough flavour for me, if I had a grinder I'd grind up Kobe beef but unfortunately I dnt
I'm thinking of puting a ball of cheese in the middle of a patty

get ground beef with more fat.
more fat = more flavor

Not really open to that option considering your typical non-lean ground beef is typically of lower quality

sometimes i like to put seasonings, diced onions, jalapenos, barbecue sauce and worcestershire sauce in the beef before forming the burgers. other times ill go plain and just season wish salt and coarse ground pepper.

Couldn't you buy higher quality beef and have them grind it at the supermarket? That's what Alton Brown did...

When you mix up the ground beef, try tossing in some onions, peppers, smoked cheddar, feta, basil, stuff like that. Just make sure you mince it so it won't make your patty fall apart on the grill. If you eat cheese on them, buy something you've never had before thats in the cheese kiosk like gouda, aged smoked cheddar, so on.
Thats just a few things I've liked when I experiment. I'm no expert.

tonight i made the patties with lean ground beef and
diced onions
chopped up jalepenos
crushed triscuits
shredded cheese
woshichire sauce [sp]
garlic
salt
pepper
bbq sauce
then i made 2 thinner patties and stuffed a ball of cheese in the middle of them and molded it into a good patty size, i would say even after cooking it was a 3/4lb patty at least
also cooked some honey bacon on the BBQ to go on top, by the time it was ready it was pretty much perfect

If you are going to get a Finer meat cut ground, so Boneout Ribeye steak. It has great fat content, and the meat is very tender. I suggest trying it, you won't be sorry.

sautee some finely diced fresh mushrooms.
form a patty. take the back of a spoon and indent the middle of the patty. put a large spoonfull of the mushrooms into the indent. cover with ground beef work it back into patty shape. great way to get delicious mushrooms on your burger without them pricariously topped where they fall off. or mixed in where some bites dont have any mushroom.

before you shape the beef into a patty:
crush up some fresh cooked bacon and mix it in with shredded cheese and diced onions into the beef then shape into a patty for a all in one bacon burger.
try this with other **** such as:
mushrooms
peppers
garlic(use in small quantity unless your a garlic fiend/not a vamipre)
various oher veggie/meat mixtures until you find some **** your in love with
IMO when you mix the **** in your burger, cooking the burger locks in the flavor so it tastes oh so much better

Too bad kobe beef fat starts melting at 77F. So youd end up with a mushy mess on your grill.

I normally use 87-90% lean ground sirloin, mixed with quality garlic powder, salt, pepper, and sometimes either a little onion powder or LemonPepper/Montreal seasoning. However, even though I use quite a few spices, I use them fairly conservatively.
