This would be great, im going to vote in a sec but i would like to say first:

A pump xball format in any shape or form. Some thing me and my teammates hve been dreaming about for a while.

as for limited or not, a decent amount of paintballs like 100 or something but of course i would perfer unlimited.

3 man would be best for now, eventually 5 man if it builds up enough interest.

revrebel- currently were looking for more feedback on the idea of paint limits vs. unlimited

surealpaintballer- thanks for the feedback, were pretty excited too. it is starting to lean the direction of doing 3-man and leading into 5-man when the numbers build.

Where do you live? Jersey has a large pump following, or so so suddenly it seems, people I guess came out the closet.....

from what i've been told what usually happens when you have limited paint in a tournament settings is: everyone breaks outs, not a whole lot of shooting, alot of head checking to try and get people to waste their paint (don't get me wrong there is some shooting), then the last minute of play a ton of run throughs.
IMO i think limited paint becomes more enjoyable in a more of a just pump gathering. were pump players just get together to play against other pump players. whether its in the woods, or a speedball field. and not so much in a tournament setting. not saying this is everyones views, just from what i have seen, experienced, and from what others have told me of their experiences.
there are players and teams that like to play limited paint speedball/wood tournaments out there.
the question though, Is there enough teams in the area to be able to have a successful limited paint tournament?

syphorus- That's one of the reasons we want to start this series, to get pumpers in the area familiar with the existing pump population in the surrounding states and try to build a well-known following and network of teams/players.

zeropaint- I agree that the pumpers exist, and we are hoping we can get them all together for some awesome events.

eldi0s- We are currently talking to the field owner about the limited/unlimited issue as well, because with these events, as most pumpers know, the cases of paint aren't flying off the shelves. As paint sales is where most fields make up the majority of their income, we want the tournament to 1) be safe 2) be enjoyable and benificial for all involved 3) be cost effective for players and the field. So as we develop packages and resolve paint issues, we will do the best we can to get something in place where the most people possible are happy with the conditions.

Keep the feedback coming guys, this is rolling along and were getting great input.

I'd love to play a pump tournament, hate the woods, and don't have many friends who play pump.

Therefore, my vote was 3-man speedball.

pump only days would be nice....at least for those of us who aren't in a team ....
I know it's probably less profitable so maybe run them once a month?

We would probably try to pick one day of the weekend and stick to it so that people could rely on it being consistent. This, unfortunately, may not work out for everyone, however we will try to do what is best for the majority.

Also, we are hoping that we can develop enough of a pump scene that there will be pumpers available for pick up games on the weekends we hold the series as well. Our overall goal would be to help get roots in the pump scene planted in our area of NJ.

That has been available for a while.

Topgun has always had a pump day the last sunday of every month. FP&PL was running strong for around 2 years which was once to twice a month pump gathering. Now there is one being started up in piccaso lake

If we play pump xball the games are going to be over far faster then I can burn 100 balls. I dont really care about a limit I have played with both styles it just alters a few things. Im sure the field wants it unlimited I cannot blame them, if they put up the effort to throw a tourney they want to sell paint to get some income from it.

Limited paint does change some basic ideas of speedball though. not many lanes off break is something that you need to adjust to the faster more aggressive breakout with limited paint. Also you can only post and cannot keep a lane on a particular area which is basically a fundamental part of speedball.

Just an update guys, I am going to try to talk with Larry this weekend about scheduling out the dates for December to get a trial in place for this series. Im going to try to get it a weekend far enough from Thanksgiving and far enough from Christmas that people will be able to make it. I will update the thread on Monday with a date hopefully.

Keep the feedback coming guys, its going great!
