The thread was very helpful, but it didn't explain the significance of a yellow flag, just the red. What does the yellow mean?

Minor IS a 1-4-1. Major is a 2- or 3-4-1. I was pretty interested in the photos myself. Down here in OZ our play-on signal (safe) is one hand held to shoulder height and moved in a circling motion. Also, down here, our "out" signal is almost the same, but the pointing hand must be vertical, not horizontal. It makes the pointing motion a lot easier to see.
