Money on television come from advertising. Advertising money is spent based on viewership. The fact that bowling and billiards is on ESPN, is a good indication how much viewership paintball gets (obviously less than bowling and billiards).
There is one more aspect to this though as well. That would be the cost of production. Both bowling and billiards would be much cheaper to produce than paintball.
So the cost to produce watchable paintball is higher for ESPN, and the amount of viewers is less. That's a bad combination.
