I've found that paintball isn't near as expensive as a lot of Drug habbits... Spend 40 a case at the local field every other weekend... 15 bucks to play with a lifetime membership. Pull out the pump and it's more like a case a month. Definitely seeing a downsize on big games and what not though. A lot of it is in the marketing. How many events are advertised on a national scale now? Other than reading posts on the Nation.. Events would blow up huge with real marketing. Running some legit commericals on networks that actually have viewers... Obviously there's a huge cost margin, but with declining numbers it would more than likely be worth the risk.

Went back to my local field yesterday and noticed a huge amount of rec-ballers on a Thursday afternoon. The field also said they had a good amount of business! I'm very excited that it started to flourish again, well here in Utah at least.
Dude I'm moving to Utah in the next month and don't know where to play at all. You think you can help me out?

Paintballaddicts in salt lake city is where I play all the time, everyone there is very nice and is willing to help out. Brad Russon who used to play for naughty dogs manages the store there and is a super cool guy. It's an indoor field with air bunkers and is changed up constantly. Basically play at paintball addicts.

Many things are factored in to the loss of players.

Cost prices are high and not all people can afford To go every weekend. I pay 65 a weekend to play . That's 265 ridiculous?

Player there are good players going to field and destroying I mean mutilating the kids do that they never want to play again.

There so many more reasons.

The only thing I wonder if paintball is growing then why 4years ago it used to be on espn and now it's not that's what I int get.

It's way more exciting then bowling and pool and tennis and golf but yet it's not on espn anymore?!

Money on television come from advertising. Advertising money is spent based on viewership. The fact that bowling and billiards is on ESPN, is a good indication how much viewership paintball gets (obviously less than bowling and billiards).

There is one more aspect to this though as well. That would be the cost of production. Both bowling and billiards would be much cheaper to produce than paintball.

So the cost to produce watchable paintball is higher for ESPN, and the amount of viewers is less. That's a bad combination.

I didn't see the PSP Chicago on television but I also have pretty limited channels, has anybody picked up broadcasting paintball since ESPN dropped it?

This. If the people who constantly ***** about the sport "dying" would all bring one new player into it, they'd all have nothing to complain about.

... and then what would they do? Go whine about something else, probably.

Paintballaccess.com live streams PSP, and does a GREAT job.

Money

I have been playing paintball off and on for 6 years my issue with why i don't play more is i live just outside of Detroit so to get to a field is a 1 hr in any direction whether it be Hells Surviors or Cru Paintaball (my new field of choice) but than it becomes when i get there i have no idea if i am going to be playing 2 on 2 to 5 on 5 or something in between not to mention the off chance at former places played and main reason why i play at cru is they at least make the teams fair. now i have a ion with the original virtue board and need to update my gun but to get a Competitive gun to just compete on a local tourney level i am looking at 500 dollars i mean me my brother and father have played together since the beginning and me and my brother both want to start to play on a more competitive level possible play some d4 stuff in one of the major leagues but to do that it is a investment of 5 or 6 grand over a 6 months period between paint practice upgrades to guns and equipment and playing in local tourneys as practice and to be able to form a team who could at least compete at that level and that is a huge investment for any 18 to 20 something person which is where paintball has always had it niche in my opinion what is needed is finding ways to make it cost effective in the gun department and paint is paint 45 dollar a case is fine but most fields now have a cap of 15 or less bps so you dont have to worry about burning 5 pods a game and so on. Create a paintball standard of 10 to 12.5 bps across all paintball whether it be a pro tourney local tourney rec ball you name it than gun makers arent as concerned about making a board that shoots 100 bps (kidding) and having to charge out the nose instead they work on making a gun super consistent and cost effective for the guys who can't afford a new gun every year than you work it out from there

That is an interesting idea. I do kind of wish you used punctuation. I think that is a problem nearly everybody has, paintball is just too expensive to play as much as everybody wants to.
