Sideline coaching?
What's your take? Yes, or no?

If you're going to run PSP feeder events, then you should allow it as the national tournaments do.

I like sideline coaching but I am not a fan allowing open snake side communication if you don't allow for a d side coach. My voice got drowned out in a crowd because I was one voice against 20+.

Certain divisions have certain rules. I think snake side for lower division only and no d side.

That's correct, just a minor gripe.

Im xball you are allowed 1 Dorito side coach outside of the pits and all of the players in the pits can yell as much as they want. One main reason for allowing open snake side participation is that it keeps the crowd involved and interested in watching games

Doesnt coaching kinda defeat the purpose of sneaking around the field- whats the use if you have people pointing out your every move-

Is your main objective to "sneak around the field"?

Foe the record I am not opposed to sideline coaching in xball style play or in practice in general. I think the coaching helps fine tune and adjust things the players on the field can't necessarily see.

not my main object but if i get into a position without you knowing it - isnt it better than making a move with someone pointing me out -- if you dont know im there - im bound to hit you before you hit me dont you think ???? i think it should be left to the instinct of the player on the field

I personally don't care for it. But I played in a time when it was prohibited and frowned upon. I think it's cheap. The players on the field should know where everyone is, not having someone on the sidelines tell them.

You'll find yourself in the minority with that opinion, these days. All you can do it suck it up. As was mentioned, in bigger events the players cannot coach like you hear in practice so those teams perform poorly after relying on their coach for everything. I don't agree with coaching either but it's here for now. You'll also see a difference when you take modes away from many players and suddenly no one shoots left handed anymore. All in good fun
I try to make it a point to coach using tips like play tighter, keep your foot in, talk to each other, etc. Sometimes I coach the snake because it's fun and the other team may have a clear advantage if they are coaching and I'm not but I prefer to coach team skills.

That is coaching. "Play tighter, kick that left foot back in, keep your head down"
This is NOT coaching "he's in the snake in front of you!! Ok, now he moved back to the right corner! He is peaking, ok now he is running!"

Coaching to me is helping someone get better, you don't do that by giving them the answers. Do you think a tutor's purpose in school is to give someone the answer's? No, it is to help them understand the problem so they can finish it themselves.

You can always start listening to their coaches lol. I will usually just hear what they are hearing and try to react on that.

It's here to stay as far as PSP is concerned. You guys just have to adjust your style and learn to work with or around it
As far as this tournament is concerned, I believe it should be allowed in the same way that it's allowed at PSP nationals

I understand that. No way around it. Just my opinion. I just feel it makes the sport lazy. I cant stand it when I go to a field to watch some players play and all I here is people yelling at the players on the field where to shoot, and where all the other players are on the field. It's so cheap and lazy. I feel you should let them play, learn from their experience, and once they are off the field, explain what they did wrong and how to fix it. To me, that is coaching.

You won't find me disagreeing there, sir. NPPL isn't popular in Texas so no other real options.
