i guess this answers my fb message, but i would like to see more of an xball style format. ive played in most of the gpls from 2006 to 2009. I even played back before Skirmish hosted the events and gpl was held at Global Paintball Fields. This league has evolved time and time again and i think for next year a true xball match system would be the direction to take. just my $0.02.

I also very much like the APPA system to try and reduce sand bagging.

make winning actually worth it. rotors and i4s after spending entrance and two cases playing the tournament is no longer profitable. two cases is nothing. The old GPL would NEVER use the PSP field layouts. The GPL used to have pretty exciting and original layouts. They would also never use the same field layout twice like what is going on between the 4th and 5th event. Be like the old gpl. 2005 through 07.

1) I really liked the old way of staging. Not a fan of the pits.
2) Reffing was good...the only thing I didn't like was when a ref checked a player by pulling him away from the bunker.
3) I agree with the previous statement...let's see some original layouts.

Why is everyone so upset about it being on Halloween.. o wait I forgot going trick-or-treating past the age of 15 is cool..

Unless you can drink and hit the Halloween loops at the bars, this holiday is really overated

PSP layouts are more fast paced and cater to the xball format. I personally like them 100x better considering they allow teams to practice for national events and they don't produce as many stalemate matches where you waste a **** load of paint for no gain.

its not x-ball. its "race to 2" played more like 5 man. if you have two points you dont go out fast, you play solid 5 man. I can honestly say i shot a **** load of paint for no gain. its the GPL, not PSP.

Im a little confused. The format being Race to 2 doesn't change how the layout plays on the field. The PSP layouts being used are far more aggressive then any GPL layout I can remember. I could be wrong but im willing to put up money there were FAR LESS stalemates on the PSP layouts this year.

Actually, we play the Race-to format on the same fields the PSP plays their Race-to format on. So we are not playing old style GPL 5man on PSP Xball or Race-to field layouts. There are some positives and negatives to this style, that is why we are looking for the feedback from you guys. Some teams like the PSP layout because they also play PSP and it helps them, some people dont care which layout they use, and others would rather we NOT use PSP layotus but still play the Race-to format.

We are looking at ALL the options for next year including style of play (ie Race-to, old style 3man/5man, ect) and field layouts. Keep the comments coming. You really do not know how much this does help in planning and prepping for next year.

Thank you again.

Cyndi

Deleware, what im saying is you got two points to win the game. smart teams play slow but explosive, in PSP, race to 4 and up, some points just run and gun down the field if it works out, great, if not, so be it, you got another point. with only two points you wouldnt do that. You don't open a fight with a flying arm bar if you get my point.

Race 2 is the best format for this series. In a race 2 format, the best team will win the best of 3. As we all know, anyone can beat anyone on a given day, but the better team that day will win the best of 3.

Im not arguing what format should be run.. im just simply stating that i like how the psp layouts play, better then the GPL layouts..

The GPL's at del hobbies also had atleast 3 different field layouts. Of course they had 7 man and 2 five man divisions and 3 man. I think you should have opened up the second field and let all 22 teams that signed up last even play. If teams are there ready to pay, why not let them?
Also, correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought the old GPL gave away 3/5/7 of that years ego away to the first place team in the D2 division? That might have been why 40-60 teams played some of those 5 mans and the 7 man brought the best competition you could find anywhere.

It's hard to find sponsors that are willing to chip in big buck these days. Thats all their is to it regarding prizes.

Your'e right, but it doesnt have to be as serious as an ego10. Maybe like a DP gun or something. I won a fusion from GPL in like 06 or 07. It pretty much let us break even for the event. I'm sure its not easy to get an event sponsor but allowing more teams into the event means more money, which should therefor equal a larger prize. Doesn't the prize list talk about this anyway with 12+ and 25+ teams or something? It seems like the GPL and the MAPL would be two completely different tournament series to me.
