SFT detent homemade fix idea
Alright, so I just used up my only spare detent for my SFT. Turns out the ball blew out last time I played. Since I still have the housing and the spring I was pondering a way to rebuild the old detent. I thought I had seen on here a while ago that someone had replaced the ball with a plastic airsoft BB. Has anyone here actually done this? If so how well did it work, and what size BB did you use?
It would be nice to be able to buy a few thousand replacements for the price of one set of detents, but I fear I may be dreaming.....

yes that is possible, i cant remeber what size, but zds might have size and if not just measure with a rule.
go on mcmasters and i know they sell plastic balls(bbs)

yes i did it.. its jut a typical .12 gram bb..
HOWEVER the bb's will wear down. you will get flat-spots where the bolt hits the bb repeatedly..
i had completely rebuilt my detents with the bb's and a pen spring
i can try to post up a couple pics sometime this coming week if u want..

you should try the heavier bb's, they might last longer.

thats true.. but i had a cheap airsoft gun b4 (walmart one) and i had bought the bbs for that.. i have 2000 of them so i dont really care.. i may get some heavier ones like you said and try that..

Are they 6mm? I have some BBs laying around but they don't seem to fit. I can't remember what size they are though, other than being .12g.

i believe so, i forgot to say that i have a set of custom detents as well. so the end might be a bit bigger so the bb fits...
