I always go with USPS money orders. That way they can be cashed on the spot with no risk of finding out days after you shipped that the money was fake, and it's extremely convenient to cash the MO and ship your items at the same time in the same place. Another advantage is using the money from the MO to pay for shipping.

I SECOND what Fatboy has said! US Postal Service Money Orders are the most secure. One stop for everything!

what happens if you use a money order to buy something and they never ship the item? could you in theory get your money back or do you have to talk to the post office and tell them i was wondering this a while back...

If the money order gets cashed and they never ship, you're screwed. However, if you pay for something and they somehow never cash it or the envelope gets lost in the mailing process, the USPS will refund you. I paid for a gun once (way back before paypal) and the person claimed to have never gotten the money order. I thought he was screwing me over but I checked with the post office to see if they could track it. I took the receipt to the money order with me, filled out some papers, and paid a $5 fee. At that point, the post office said after 60 days from purchase, I would get a refund in the mail if the money had in fact never been cashed. Low and behold, a few weeks later I got a refund in the mail for the money order in full.

Hummm I seem to recall accepting and cashing a postal money order was covered under Mail Fraud since it is all covered by the USPS.

Something similar happened to me. Guy bought a dog from me, payed with "certified" cashiers check, we cashed the check and sent the dog, then three days later the check came back bad. So we then had to pay the bank back the money since my wife was the one that cashed the check. We contacted police, fbi, and finally the cia (since it was mail fraud). They told us since it was under a certain amount there was nothing we could do.

USPS money orders are some of the cheapest to send as well. It's an all around good idea.

honestly man, you should go to Bank of America, or ANY other bank around you
all you need is 100$...
you can create your self a checking account with a debit card with 100$
and then you can create a paypal,
i sell a lot on pbnation, and when people dont have paypal i know it frustrates me, cuz it is almost the year 2011, and since i was 15 in 2005! i have had a debit card and a job

ALSO, i was selling my SAAB on CraigList a few months ago,
i got a scam and played along with the scammer.
My car was listed for 1995$ OBO
he was "sending a check for 3250 via ups over night (he paid 19.99$ for this) he said he was adding in some money for shipping and some for my time and effort"
ALL I HAD TO DO... was send him a chcek for 750 to balance out the 3250 to 4000, or some kind of scam
the check he sent me was soo crappy looking, he printed it onto a paper, and didnt even use a paper slicer to make it have ALL perfect and STRAIGHT edges
i turned the Check over to the police... but im 99.99% SURE that they havnt done A THING
EDIT: the guy (scammer) said that my car was gonna get picked up by a flat-bed, so long story short, i was kinda scared someone was gonna show up to grab my car and ship it, but then i realized the scam, all it was, was he got 750$ from me instead of me getting like 80% more then my asking price
*i was seeing how far the scammer would go, like CHRIS HANSON *
