I have bee looking forward to this for yyyeeeaaarrsss. I love what they've done to it, it looks amazing. Good bye hours and hours of my life!

Also, when I first saw that units no longer stack, I was put off a little. But after some thinking it makes things more dynamic. Good move on they're part there I think.

The main thing that puts me off with this game is the horrible battle experience. It's so boring.

It's a slow, turn based strategy game. What were you expecting?

Key word: strategy Just throwing up units to surround the other guy and who ever has the most advanced wins.

I disagree. I hated having advanced units like tanks and **** destroyed by axe men or something lame like that. More advanced units should absolutely tear **** up.

I like the way combat is headed in 5, 1 unit per tile, cannons being able to fire up and over front line units and range units actually being able to attack from a tile or two away.

I never understood the hype for this game. I haven't really played it, but from my honest perspective it looks gay.

Never played these games, always wanted too, didn't feel like spending the money. Can anyone compare it to another semi-decent game that I may have played? (IE: Total War, Age of Empires, ect ?)

Completely turn based. Take the Total War games, keep all of the turn based stuff and improve on it greatly, but strip the glorious combat.

I suggest you check that out and see for yourselves.

Except that vid doesn't dwell too deep into the city building/growing, the tech tree or talking with other countries.

True enough, was just showing them what to expect when it comes to combat.

Looks solid but the lack of combat draws me back. Deff not a first day buy for me with f1 coming out on the same day. Is the multiplayer fun?

I rarely played 4 online, only a couple of hamachi games with some folks from /v/. I had a blast playing it with friends at a LAN though, but it takes certain kinds of people to be able to sit through a 5+ hours for a single game.

I was lucky enough to have friends that loved the previous Civ games, and liked slower paced tabletop games, so it wasn't a big deal to play Civ for an entire day while we drank beer and whatnot.

Time and time again I've tried to get in to Civ. I just can't do it. I like a lot of the game, but after putting hundreds of hours in to the Total War series I just don't get a fraction of the satisfaction from Civ.
