Its sad to say but this season has little to no hope of getting a solid amount of teams for d2/3. As long as players can get 5 players ranked below d3 they are gonna take the easier road.
I don't see d2/3 division getting bigger until the d4 teams get re-ranked and are forced to play the higher division.

if there was a dislike button i would be hitting it and doing this right now
this is the BEST league on the east coast. just doesn't make sense.
im glad the D4/D5 divs are prospering but we need to grow the D2/D3 div atleast for the last event

lol pat im not saying i like that its happening but its the truth.. There are a good handful of teams that are playing d4/5 that could very well compete in the d2/3 division.

This is what happens when everyone is ranked in one system it will work itself out in a couple of years then everyone should be ranked where they belong

Yea, next season d2/d3 will be a full division because a lot of teams will be reclassified and be forced to move up. I know it doesn't help this season but it's reality in this situation...

Appa Should Have A Different Ranking System For Guys Or Teams Playing Local Events.eventually This Is Gonna Kill The Local Tournaments.you See It Happening Now.look At Eter They've Been Playing Gpl.forever And Now The Last 2 Events Have Been Cancelled.

I don't think that guys playing D4 in a regional event will accumulate enough points to get bumped to D3.
It's been a growing problem for years, but there are no good opportunities for guys with any national experience at all to play locally/regionally.
I like Baca's idea for events with reseeding (either between prelims and subsequent rounds, or even just from event to event).

^^^I agree but at the same time, it only takes 1 player on a team to get bumped up and the whole team will then be forced to play a division up...

i just dont understand why people are like trying to stay in lower divisions like in 2008 i had never herd of d4/d5 first time i herd that was maybe early 2010.
back in the day it was about getting up there and competing and i like that teams are starting younger and wanting to compete but teams that know they should be in d2/d3 and are playing d4/d5 what are you doing? just cuz your legal for it dont make it cool.
play to your potential thats basically the bottom line.

They Play As Low As Possible To Keep The Rankings So They Can Play Locally As Long As Possible.especially if they only play local events.

That isn't true because you can't be ranked higher then d3 with only local events through appa... They do it so they have a easier trip to the podium bottomline

It's been going on for years. Carl's started out with a strong D3/2 division in 2004/5 time frame and it slowly fell apart because there were a handful of really strong teams that no one ended up wanting to play against. I think it's the same thing that happened to GPL's 7-man division. The problem is, between that and sandbagging there's little middle ground.
There also used to be incentive for those teams to play because they wanted to pay for national events with their winnings. Prize pools dried up, event entries increased, and sponsorship subsidies went away until the the risk wasn't worth the potential payoff for a team who's primary goal was playing nationals or the gap was just too large to cover.

pat, it also has to do wit the higher ranked players being broke tryin to pay for their psp/nppl seasons, most players play down a division to make their cash back and the fact that d2 ranked players can play in the other division.. a d1 psp player can be ranked d2 if they dont hav a high point number goin into the season... sandbaggers killed regionals. and one more thing, i dnt see the d2/3 division happening at all for the last event.. its on halloween.. i LOVE mapl/OA/Rick but that event date rle wasnt their brightest idea, would luv to see that get changed nd i would gladly play wit any of u
