Yea, so where are all those people saying LSU would have won even if UNC had those 13 players?

Here, second string defense was in most of the second half and the offensive playcalling clearly changed to a conservative run the clock down scheme. I like how everyone acts like the guys behind those players are all walk-ons and not highly recruited players. The whole staff is still terrible though.

To my comment about it not being a good thing to have one player account for 75% of your offense the way Cam Newton did for Auburn... your retort was, "Yeah, like the way Ingram/Richardson does for your team."

REALLY? That's your reply?

1. Bama's 2009 team was actually very balanced. Ingram/Richardson probably accounted for around 55%

2. Ingram/Richardson are TWO people. Get it? If one of them gets hurt, season not over. Get it? If one of them gets shut down, game not lost. Get it? TWO people =/= ONE person.

Their position is rotated. The RB position accounted for a large amount if not most of your offense. You cant rotate other positions like running back which is how you guys made a living last year. Passing was "balanced" in just big plays to Julio "Overhyped and no real results" Jones and Maize.

It's still TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE. Not the same as having ONE GUY be your entire offense.

If Ingram gets hurt, Richardson can still play, ie this week. If Ingram gets shut down, Richardson can still produce, ie Bama vs Auburn last year.

If Cam Newton goes down, Auburn is screwed. Auburn is using Cam like Florida used Tebow. But there's one HUGE difference. Auburn is not Florida. Auburn doesn't have the team surrounding Newton that Florida had surrounding Tebow. Auburn doesn't have the D that Florida had.

If Ingram or Richardson goes down, Bama will still be a VERY good offensive team with a pretty good defense to boot. If Newton goes down or gets shut down, Auburn's offense will be in the same garbage heap it's defense is currently sitting in.

Don't get me wrong. I think Auburn is potentially the 2nd best team in the SEC West. Maybe 3rd overall. But they better develop something on offense besides the Can Newton show. Because there will be teams that can shut that down. Count on it.

and btw... that doesn't make us unusual in the college football world. Most teams play a couple of running backs and a couple of primary receivers who make up most of the offense. Not sure what your point was there.

Having 4 or 5 guys be most of your offense is normal and ok. Having ONE guy be your entire offense is VERY risky. That's my point.

Auburn's offense would still be better than last years without Cam. Either Cam or Trotter is a large upgrade over Todd.

Well of course Newton is going to account for a large part of the offense, he's the damn quarterback.

I was very impressed with Nig Newton yesterday. I know it was only Arky St, but he did some great things on the ground. He can throw the deep ball too. I'm disappointed that after 4 years Mario Fannin still can't hold on to the ball. Dyer looked good but we can't rely on him.

The defense was disappointing. However, they played a lot better in the second half. I was expecting our pass defense to be one of our stronger points this year. I hope they are able to fix it by Thursday.

Seriously? How often does an FCS team (which has ~75% of the scholarship allowed in FBS) beat an FBS team?

SEC team loses to FCS team: EXECUTE SPIN CYCLE!

Might as well give it up. If they don't get it, they can't be helped.

What sucked the most about the game last night was how 1 quarter completely overshadowed the stellar performance by PP.

This game reminded me a lot of the LSU/GT game a couple years ago. Went up big in the 1st half and then played the most boring, vanilla football I've seen from LSU in the 2nd half. Except UNC actually made it a close game.

Again, Alabama's 2009 offense was actually pretty balanced when you look at the stats, it's just people remember the national title game because it's the last thing in your memory and it skews your perception and makes you forget the SECCG, the Virginia Tech game, the Arkansas game, etc.

I'm really interested in seeing the State/Auburn game this Thursday night. Should be a shootout.
