Me like the headband as well.
Sorry, I'm not on the Christian forums either. The cool thing about Christians is that we have a base line to go off of and we should be and allow ourselves to be, held accountable to it. The Bible.
We may have "discussions" about what it is truly relaying (and sometimes spirited ones at that
) but it is the foundation we have in common. So there is always hope when dealing with a Christian.
8 And he took a piece of broken pottery with which to scrape himself while he sat in the ashes. 9 Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die." 10 But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?"In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
We recently had a tragedy at work, a guy who had only been working with us two days went home and shot himself, prayer for the family would be much appreciated. Apparently had been a successful business owner for some time and with the turn in the economy and some legal difficulties and the financial burdens that entails he had lost everything including all of his savings, business and home. The day he shot himself his wife had told him she was leaving. I'm not interested in passing judgment on the wife (my heart breaks for her, she probably needs prayer for comfort and healing most of all), I barely knew the guy, her not at all and next to nothing of their relationship if that, but the circumstances did remind me of the above passage. Again prayer would be much appreciated.
Back to Job. Jobs wife did stick with Job through a lot. They lost their income, their status, and their family, ... everything. But she had her breaking point and took it out on Job, he was the problem and she wanted him to fix it by removing himself from her life. There are a lot of problems in the world today, and it seems that everybody wants to point the finger somewhere to blame and say "if we get rid of that, it will be good". But the real problem is, is that it's a fallen world and we live in it, just like Job and his wife did. Jobs wife had lost everything the world could offer and I believe she wanted something of it back, if only it was to know that she was right about him and that he was the problem. Here's the thing though, had Job acquiesced and done as she had asked, she would have been deceived. But to her benefit Job called her a foolish woman and denied her request.
Job wasn't the problem, he had the solution. Trust God. That's what our baseline says. Trust Him with your whole being, not just your mind or your heart, your past, now or future, but everything. Give it all to Him and trust Him. Live like you do and talk like you do and above all encourage others to do so also.
