How many of you use USAA? I can't recall ever hearing anything negative about them, but why would you recommend them over another bank?

Cause they're not a bunch of greedy **** bags and when there is a problem they will certainly, 100% handle it.

I use USAA as my main back, and chase as a walk in. Military gets free chase banking, to include free wire transfers.

Which sadly applies to about 90% of the vets that I personally know. Is it laziness or a sense of entitlement that makes these guys feel like they don't need to work? I know quite a few who don't work, don't go to school, and moved back in with their folks and live rent free yet they are still broke as **** while still on unemployment. The **** is wrong with these guys?

It's ridiculous that someone who separates voluntarily can or would go on unemployment. What you described is also true of most people I know who are recent college grads too...

Well, to be fair, I was on unemployment for 3 months while I waited for the job I wanted. Since I quit, I just ride my GI bill and disability and drill pay while I take 16 credits.

It took me 6 months to get a job. I was getting depressed about the whole situation.

Those guys are dirt bags.

I'm not talking about being unemployed for 6 months, I'm talking about a few years.

You can't be on unemployment while going to school and getting the GI bill allowance right?

But, when I get out next June, and classes won't start until fall I could collect un-employment until my post 9/11 allowance kicks in..correct? So, like 3-4 months max of un-employment.

Yea you can

GI Bill is not considered income and not taxable so unemployment is ok.

wow...I would feel like a douche for collecting un-employment for more than 6 months but at the same time, I know a bunch of lazy ****s(not military, just civilian's who work the system) who collect it so why not me right? At least I'd be going to school and not sitting around being lazy. I'd most likely end up saving it all anyways so I can substantially increase my savings account for med school costs. hmmm.

No, but then you would compromise your eligibility for federal education benefits, which are worth more money.

What benefits are these you speak of? Like pell grants and such?

I feel like no matter how much I read on the GI Bill I'm clueless about it. I think the problem is I have yet to apply for FAFSA, or schools, etc...I'm more of a hands on guy.
