KEE Action Sports Recalls BT SA-17 Marker

I just got this email in, thought I'd spread the word. Please delete if inappropriate.

Name of product: BT SA-17 Paintball Gun/Marker
Units: About 1,400
Importer: KEE Action Sports LLC, of Sewell, N.J.
Hazard: When users attempt to pierce the CO2 cartridge by closing the lever to the cartridge chamber, the cartridge can fly out of the marker, posing an injury hazard to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: No incidents or injuries have been reported.
Description: The marker is made of aluminum and resembles a pistol. It is black with model number BT SA-17 printed on both sides. It uses a horizontally-fed magazine and requires a 12g CO2 cartridge.
Sold at: Paintball fields/arenas, stores and retailers from May 2010 through August 2010 for about $130.
Manufactured in Taiwan
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled paintball markers. Consumers can return the markers to KEE or the retailer from which the product was purchased for a free repair or contact KEE for the repair parts and installation instructions.
Consumer Contact: For additional information, contact KEE Action Sports at (800) 220-3222 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT, or visit KEE’s customer service website at www.paintballsolutions.com.

Nice to see KEE sending out a recall before people got hurt. A lot of companies don't do that these days

Now your just being ignorant.

Things made overseas can have the same quality as things made in the states. It comes down to the company and it's quality control.

We can only blame ourselves for the massive amount of things made overseas.

Glad to see KEE is fixing the problem responsibly and before anyone got hurt.

i don't know specifics but i am guessing some people already got hurt and that's why this is happening. it's great to see they are fixing it for free as they should.

from what i have seen lately though with most paintball companies they seem to fix their problems either free or at very low cost. eclipse with the geo1, dye with the nt10 and so on.

the shop i work at has sold more than a few of these things so i can't wait to deal with all of this. people are too damn lazy to take care of their own problems anymore...

Why when you can deny and deny until people say it's not worth it anymore or run out of time/money in court trying to win a law suit.

From the sound of the release they have resolved the issue and its ready to go. Might just want to buy it from empirepaintball.com that way you know you get one of the non-recalled ones?

I'm surprised anyone really bought the BT SA-17 to begin with (out side of collectors), it was just another redecorated pistol design from more than five years ago (see: Warsensor Zeus G1 & G2, Core ZX, Miltec G1, Ariakon ACP & Overlord, Psycho Ballistics Delta 68, PT JR, PCS-USP Piranha, rap4's T68 paintball pistol).
Tiberius and Tippman make way better pistols. Even the KT Chaser & Eraser or RAP226 (even though smaller caliber paintballs) are at least newer and better designs.
The only thing of remote value on the BT SA-17 was the magazine tube that can be put on nearly any other BT marker for limited ammo games or "sniper rifles". Just my opinion.
To each there own I guess.

You are comparing a $130 pistol to pistols $200+, yeah they better be better.

QFT

I work at Lowe's and I hate it when costumers come into the store thinking that we carry a full line of internal pieces to our power tools. I have to tell them that they are going to have to get ahold of the manufacturer of the product for that....thats usually when they start flipping out.

I had one guy ask me "why the hell would I have to get ahold of the manufacturer?!" It's like give me a ****ing break people and use your brain!!

anyways sorry for my rant but i can relate to the above quote.

I feel like this will turn people away from Empire Paintball and direct them to a new company. People will see this and say 'oh they can't even get there **** straight the first time, fail' or something along the lines.
But that's just what I think, I personally love empire gear.
But at least they are taking returns and they resolved the problem (i think?)

I don't really think that will be a problem. I have used my SA 17 a lot and never had a problem. They just failed to make it idiot proof, now they have and people will get taken care of for free. No problem as far as I can see.
