Spyder - Timmy - Pump (Pics and Vid)

I took a 2k2 Lasoya body. Put spyder internals (bottom tube) with a spyder vertical adapter and a bob long millenium frame. unactivated the blowback and BAM.

It's an open bolt, sheridan based pump. The pump stroke cocks the hammer and lets a ball in the breech. Trigger releases hammer with attached bolt.

I am using a 2k2 VP Teflon Bolt

I still need work - most notably attach the pump. My idea is to half-block it and use a sled. I will be contacting an airsmith on MCB to work out some ideas.

It is currently running a stock spyder valve with the stock cup seal and a rifle kit cleaning rod as the valve stem. The vertical adapter is a 32 degrees. I have a few more ideas up my sleeve for the valve ( I am going to hack the 2k2 ramsleeve and use that valve and poppet)

With the new, higher flowing valve I will then mess with different spring combinations in order to use the softest main spring possible (resulting in softest possible pump stroke)

Any ideas, suggestions, comments are welcomed. I would also like to come up with a cool name for this.

Here is the video of it working:

Looks great. Rather than hack up the body though, why not make a sled that fits into the notch in the top tube, then have a rod that goes through that to the bolt?

Also, will you be slotting the hammer?

I prefer to have it mid-blocked - It will be professionally done. I can't see your idea happening without having to have 90* turns on the pump rod. I feel mid-blocking will be the cleanest option.

I will not be slotting the hammer, I prefer it to remain open bolt, and It's a lot less of a hassle to deal with. The blowback is completely eliminated. Even if I wanted blowback the timmy body wouldn't allow it.

You don't really need a sled. Stop thinking it's an autococker, start thinking it's a sheridan.

Slot the hammer, attach pump arm directly to the bolt, and you're all done.

sheridan and cocker are one and the same. There is no efficient way to attach pump arm to bolt and have it be clean. It also complicates things for maintenance.

I will not be slotting the striker. It just complicates things unnecessarily. And I like the open-boltness of it - no double feeds/rollouts.

I am so going to do this. I have all the essential materials: Spyder Parts, and a Bob Long Body.

Thanks for this

Where is the angry ranting guy now? haha

Good work man.. like I said on MCB though I would turn down the velocity adjuster and hide it in the body.

Personally if you still have them, I would leave the eye cover on too.

I am going to leave them on. But it is going to require some heavy modification to them in order for the pump arm to be able to pass through. I had it off cause I was testing the pump arm concept.

It's gonna need the two tabs grinded off and new screw holes drilled and tapped because the current screw would get in the way of the pump arm.

This is what I'd meant. Lets you pump it and keep it open bolt, makes it so you don't have to hack up the body, and could be made to look very nice.

so you're only pumping it halfway, then letting it shoot?
so the pump arm will go forward when you shoot the gun?

for right now, yes. I'm gonna see how it goes. Might slot the hammer in the future, but as if right now you are spot on

man slotting the hammer is half the fun of making a spump.
its not hard at all, just make sure you get a cone bit for your dremel, if thats what your using.

Or if you wanted it to remain open bolt cut a circular slot in the bolt. Then have the pump arm going into the bolt slot. Pump the bolt and hammer back. Pump forward and its no longer connected to anything. Thats how I would do it personally.

I've thought of that too. But that would mean cutting an ugly slot into the body and cutting a slot into this bolt which is very rare...

I could just use a different bolt...I'm gonna look at all my options. This is still very much a work in progress.

I'll keep you guys posted.

i think slotting the bolt is also the best ides since you want to remain open bolt.

If you have to hack up a bunch of stuff, don't bother making it closed bolt. Besides, open bolt means no roll-outs. I have a lot of old markers and this is a huge problem for me.

Would a spyder bolt fit? it'd be really easy to drill and tap it like in my pic.

Check this out. Seems the least intrusive way of doing and still allowing it to be an open bolt pump.
