i just bought a bag at my local store called Elixir. its a premium paint i was told but i dont remember what company makes it. it shoots great though. i payed 14.99 for the bag of 500. i have shot all quality of paint and i think the best thing for a pump is a bore sizing kit. i have a KP and the best investment for it was a Checkit Bore Lock kit and a CP barrel. it shoots amazing with almost any paint i have put through it.

The brand of paint is almost irrelevant, but the quality and freshness are always key.

Well now, any old expensive paintball won't necessarily do the trick. Some paint shoots better in some weather, for instance.

The largest bore paint you can find, as that will help with your old giant bored barrel. Best thing you could do to that KP is put a ball detente of some kind, either a wire one or a PPS stamped wedgits.

Kp
I have had good luck with Valken Redemption and Empire Bulletz.
Maybe I just got luck with the batches I checked but the paint was running about .687 which is perfect for the old school fixed barrels.
Usually I head down to one of the local fields and ask go through different brands. I test about 10 random balls a case just to see what fits snug in the barrel but not too tight nor too brittle.
Unfortunately paint sizes vary batch to batch but if you are playing pump, then a case will last you a long time.
