I probably missed it somewhere in the 10+ pages of posts or so, but my profit had paint chipping off after one or two matches after using it straight out from that drum box. Not sure if its coincidence or whatever but its been kind of annoying. Otherwise I love this mask!!

Saitoh: the first run profits had this issue contact sly and they will set you right. They have excellent customer service.

So i just got a pair of all white profits (used) and there is some discoloration on the white part at the ears on the outside. either from heat or something else. It's color is tan/off white. Anyone know of a way to get this back to a nice white? Can this part of the mask be painted?

I would really like to see this great customer service first hand. I emailed them a week ago and still havent gotten a response back from them. Not trying to throw em under the bus because I just need to replace the ear foam.

Got this back, thanks all

The flaking problem was an issue on the very, very first run of metallic-finished masks—Retina, Titanium, Blue, Red, and Olive. The Tangerine was an LE that was not affected by this (different plating process), and all the rest of masks produced after the first run were not subject to this problem. It was purely cosmetic—but the vast majority were swapped out under warranty. Rest assured, your LE Tangerine will not be subject to those issues J

Don

Took about three days for me to get an email with an RMA included. They actually just called me thursday saying they were shipping me a new blue mask for the paint chipping issue.
Just print out the email they send you and also the receipt for your mask purchase and send it with the mask.

Digi camo. wore them for about 20 minutes, they breathe real nice and have great vision. only real grip is the mask hugs my face pretty hard, mostly the ears and forehead. thinking i might have to break them in and stretch them out some. wearing a headband helps. the straps are adjusted all the way out, so its not made for large players i think, im 6"4 and 300 pounds.
i'll give it some fair play time soon enough

wow so much drama on this mask.. I own the gen 1 edition and still havent had an issue with them. except a scratched lense. the ears feel nice and have taken time to get used to. as well as the vision. For head fitment, if it hugs too tight.. use a headwrap/sandana etc anything to pad yur forehead.

I finally got my new foam after speaking with one of the higher ups and they sent it out for me super quick at that point. The only thing I am unhappy with is, I have the ice pick mask and the rubber mask part is stained/discolored and I cant get the color back to a clean white no matter what I do, but that isnt a sly issue. LOVE the mask and is is SUPER comfortable.

Wait, wait, wait... What? Sly will replace masks because of paint chipping? Would that be even true if I bought my mask in a small shop in Bangkok, Thailand that gets all it's stock from ansgear.com to re-sell? Love the mask to death, but my Red Profits turned to Red/Silver Profits in like 3 months of use... sounds nice, not a good look though. Now THAT would be awesome.

I just literally got off the phone with somebody at sly, not sure his name, I should have asked. Either way I asked about the ear foam, the initial run had the gen 1 foam which is very thick and more then likely what most people have. There is a gen 2 foam which is about 40% thinner then the gen 1 foam that has been out for a while from the sound of it. And there is a gen 3 foam coming out that is thin and also has some small holes cut out around the ears for sound; that should be coming out pretty soon from the sound of it but not sure when.

So yeah, I sent Sly an e-mail through the help spot on their website yesterday regarding paint chipping on my Black/metallic red Profits that I purchased a while back. Don just sent me an e-mail back:
Quote:
Hi Joel,
I will check with our rep in Asia to make sure that we will have a replacement available. Will let you know if they have them. Definitely will have the booth at TPOC—the guy you’re looking for is Andrew Loh.
Thanks,
Don

That is awesome news for me, if Don makes this happen, Sly will have my business long time. (Just happen to be in the market for a barrel kit lol). The reason I think this is so extraordinary is because I am not located in the US, but in Thailand. Luckily we will have an event here soon where a Sly sales rep is present. I will post and let you guys know how this worked out, but for now I have to say that I am really impressed with their CS.

Hey dudes,
Thanks for the kind words about the (few) good instances of customer service.
About the delays and miscommunication--sorry. One of our most critical employees recently left to head up our Asia branch. It's been amazingly hectic around here.
If you have one of our first editions that is experiencing chipping, please send us an email at info@slyequipment.com so we can get you sorted. While the number of masks out there with the issue is limited, seems there's still questions in the thread.
If you have foam issues, drop us a line via email or phone and I'll get a new set out to you personally.
Thanks again for your patience and kind words. We are a small business, and stuff does fall by the wayside--but we truly care, and try to show it.
Regards,
Don
