wow didnt think of it
the nerve is the real 2003 shocker and what sp calls the 03 shocker is really the mini matrix cuz if you look at the nerve it looks like a shocker with all the parts like a 10th of the size and the new trigger and frame that was used for the "03 shocker" for lower profile and probly the same board setup style where it is split in half
and since they figured out how to make all the parts alot smaller and operate they probly made it hella faster at the same time and since its probly just the original shocker just alot smaller n faster its more than likely got the accuracy to go with it
any one else got ideas on this?

nogutsnoglory99: They are not like the shocker at all. the nerve is open bolt, and the shocker is pseudo closed bolt. The bolt comes forward, waits a part of a second, then releases air. In my opinion that isn't going to do anything since closed bolt is crap, but whatever.

shocker is normal open bolt, sorry but every gun utilizes this "seal forward technology!" every gun (yes even your blades and talons) must seal the breach or else the valve will not trigger and/or you will have massive blowback
there is nothing in a shockers firing operation that makes it any different from any other open bolt gun

hey, i have a shocker, this thing is nuts!!!@! the trigger is so light and tight it's unbelievable. i can walk the trigger and hit the same spot almost everytime w/ no breaks....and i dont have an eye. and it's actually a closed-bolt design on the shocker.

ok stick your finger down the feedneck...is it closed? wait what? it isn't OMG it isn't? i thought i was closed bolt
you may be able to walk that trigger but have fun with your 600 shot efficiency
also if you haven't noticed even spyders have adjustable light triggers...bout time SP got on the ball

Whoa now Manbot, he may still have one of the old school shockers. As for the new ones they are anything but closed bolt. now if you are looking for a true closed bolt electro the excalibur is where its at, although a little pricey, and still can get 2000+ shots off a 68/4500. I hate to say it, but SP is behind on the technology thing. Everything that they are just coming out with is already done, better. Or they come out with useless stuff like air assist and charge an arm, and 3 left nuts for it.

dude, the Nerve is actually the best product to come from SP. it is way better than the Matrix: faster, smaller, just plain better.

yea for all you know the nerve could be a huge flop. Since there aren't any of these for the public or testing yet we can't compare them to anything.

An open bolt design opens the valve as it comes forward. Air begins to impact the ball while the bolt is still moving. With the shocker perhaps this is different. I honestly don't know.

no, on all open bolt markers the air doesnt hit the ball until after the bolt has reached it's farthest point and the ball is off of the bolt

Ok, I'm not an airsmith, but I don't understand how that can be. The ram, connected to the bolt via a bolt pin, opens the valve by pushing the valve pin a fixed distance, X. As soon as the seal of the valve is broken air will begin to flow. So, in the path of the ram, once it has pushed the valve open, say, 1/2X distance, air is flowing and the bolt is still moving forward. The hole in the bottom of the bolt is already exposed enough to allow that air a path to the ball. It all happens fast enough that it might as well be simultaneous, but nonetheless.... Where am I wrong in this thinking? My point, as related to the thread, was that SP claims that SFT gives the ball an instant of stability in front of a stationary bolt before it fires, thus pseudo-closed bolt. Again, I'm not an expert, but if I'm wrong please explain exactly why.

you are forgetting the time that the air takes to travel through the bolt to the ball, by that time the breach is sealed, if it wasn't it'd be soup in there

Yeah, I know it's probably all near simultaneous. Air, even at "low" pressure, moves pretty damned fast. I'd be interested to hear SP's version as to what makes SFT different.
