Unlike many small headphones, each earpiece of the Apple In-Ear Headphones contains two separate high-performance drivers — a woofer to handle bass and mid-range sounds and a tweeter for high-frequency audio. These dedicated drivers help ensure accurate, detailed sound across the entire sonic spectrum. The result: You’re immersed in the music and hear details you never knew existed. Even when listening to an old favourite, you may feel like you’re hearing it for the first time.

Calling Apple's earbuds "high performance" is laughable. Sure, they're good. But even in terms of earbuds they're mediocre.

everyone hates skullcandy but the new 50/50's have the best bass imaginable for $50, and they have lifetime warranty so really you will never need to buy another pair

I feel like Ive posted this a hundred ****ing times...usually I'd bother posting hotlinking pictures but if you buy headphones on looks=faggetory.

Cheap:

Earbuds:
$25 JVC marshmellows-
http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/j...-32865339.html

And that's the extent on my earbud knowhow. I feel unless you absolutely need the portability it's a waste of money. As the quality just isn't there unless you spend top dollar. I have a pair of marshmellows I use for riding, the gym, and whenever I can't wear normal headphones.

$30 KOSS Portapros. Retroclassic styling, good sound for the price.
http://www.amazon.com/Koss-PortaPro-.../dp/B00001P4ZH

$30 Senheisser HD208. Little more closed than the Portapros.
http://www.headphone.com/headphones/...ser-hd-201.php

There's this pair of Grados-like(Grados makes them for the company) headphones for around $80. I can never remember the name. I'll try and find them for you later.

$70 Grados SR 60i. Lots of rep about these
http://www.headphone.com/headphones/grado-sr-60i.php

$100 Sennheiser HD280's. Closed.
http://www.headphone.com/headphones/...hd-280-pro.php

$100?? Senheisser HD555's. Open. Can you even buy these new anymore?
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD5.../dp/B0001FTVDQ

$150 Audio Technica ATH-M50. Closed monitor headphone. Portable as ****.
http://www.headphone.com/headphones/...ca-ath-m50.php

$200 Sennheiser HD25-ii's. DJ headphone. Really small profile. You can wear these around without looking like a robot.
http://www.headphone.com/headphones/...hd-25-1-ii.php

I kept it light. When you find what you want closed/open/size etc do some research in that price range. Sony, Audio Technica, etc make good competing products for Senheisser in the price ranges(HD555, HD280, etc).

go to Walmart or target and get a set of Phillips.

with $70 you can buy a few sets incase it breaks, and you won't get mugged for having audiophile headphones..

Skullcandy's are good for in-ear ones. their on-ear and over-ear are a joke tho. If you are willing to drop the money, Dre Beats Solo and Studio are both insane. I've heard senheisser makes awesome ones, but i have no experience with them

Then save your money until you have enough.

There's no sense wasting your money due to impatience. You'll thank yourself later for waiting.

Also SkullCandy buds are a joke as well with their terrible quality. All low end earbuds are going to generally have the same sound quality.

Buy a set of marshmellows. Good thick cord, ear nibs don't fall off and lots of colors to match your sick iPod bro

Define "best bass"... do they make your head shake?

Pretty much exactly what I would reccomend, I'd save some more and go for the M50 though, or the Grados.

Also, we really need to know the use for your headphones, both where you're mostly going to be using it, and what you listen to, and whats most important to you (Big bass, mids, highs, whatever). The M50's have pretty big bass for example, but lack a little in the mids/highs. Also, what are you going to be listening to it from? I have a pair of Mdr V6's (Granted they were my dad's, so it's 20+ years old), and it has no bass through my ipod. Granted, it's a studio monitor, so I wouldn't expect to have big bass.

I'm interested as well. Will any of the headphones mentioned above play all types of music well? I want my dubstep to sound like I'm at the rave, and my classical to sound like they're in the room with me. Musique concrete has a lot of little tiny sounds that you need to pay attention to.
