I'm with this guy. This type of training will raise your heartbeat more and also help you build more muscle than a slow 1 hour run.
Higher heart rate and more muscle building is the best way to burn calories at the moment and at a resting rate.
Long endurance cardio (like a 1 hour run) will eventually start breaking down slow twitch muscle because it's trying to save energy. Because of this you won't be burning as many calories at a resting rate.

Cardio is supposed to be longer than 5 minutes, so why would you do something you can't do passed 5 minutes?
