UL Quest Project

Alright, so I bought a quest a little ways back and really fell back in love with the guns. A friend of mine (who also owns a quest, and plays at a local field) decided to get me into a UL Quest project. I saw the old one on here, but want to do things a little differently.
I'm looking into using Droid electronics as it's small, and should be able to power the noid i'd like to use.
i'm looking at using the old WAS noid, i don't have the part number offhand, but i know a handful of people who use them with their timmies, and timmy noids are very, very similar to 06 cyborg noids, which are powered by the same board.
i designed a manifold that will use M3 Barbs (what timmy noids use), and screw down to the body (modeled it from the quest noid).

now I'm running into the biggest issue with the manifold. it's relatively small, and i don't think any machine shop locally will make a single one (plus i think it'l need revision as well, so it would be a one-off process each time). So I ask you, voided warranty, are you/do you know any machinists would be willing to take on a small side project like that?

pics of the project so far:
still deciding on where to mount the frame, back or front

that's what everyone has said. looks take a back seat to comfort for me, and i will say, in both cases they are super comfy. i also have to figure out if i can drill into the body because i will need to drill and tap a hole for one frame screw. (i can do that, i've got a drill press and will probably end up either taping directly for 10-32, or using a heilocoil as i have a heilocoil set already here)

I personally think having it up front would feel better when you actually go to play with it.

Mounted way in the back like that seems like it would be really front heavy. Especially when you are playing with it and have a hopper atop.

yeah. it's all coming together pretty well.
i kinda like it further back, it's comfy as hell too, and gives me good room to move around with. people are saying it looks like m98 length, but i don't care as much about looks as i do comfort for me...

Sitting further back looks like it'd be so comfortable. I love guns that have perfect space for your thumb, like for example the luxe.

My friend used to have a Quest. Gun was awesome. Can't wait to see a shooting video of this thing

thanks!
either way it's got good spacing, i also think it looks cleaner further back, the UL sits flush with the back of the gun.

quests are great, cheap, and as long as you know what you're doing, fairly reliable, glad i got back into them heh

I actually meant the back, I have no idea why I wrote front. I think it looks better up front though.

you could use a different solenoid that is already tapped for m3 barbs. It might be considerably cheaper to just buy the new solenoid than to have a machinist custom make you multiple custom manifolds. airsoldier products has a large selection of small solenoids you could look at.

ccluff, that's the plan. i'm going to use a M3 tapped solenoid. The issue is that the body is not tapped for M3 barbs, i need to use a manifold if i want to go that route.

Make an adapter and use a different LPR. Also it looks much better up front but, like I said before, the frame still looks way out of place on that gun.

i'd need a while new vertical ASA, the male threads for the LPR cover are on the ASA. plus i see no issues with the current LPR.

I found a machinist to make the manifold, just finishing up talking to him before we get that rolling

so i'm not totally up with solenoids. for those that know a lot about them, i'm looking at going with this
http://www.airsoldier.com/mm5/mercha...Code=SOLENOIDS
mainly for its size, and use of M3 barbs, and the fact that the max pressure is around 100psi, well above what i will be using. my question is, in looking at the spec-sheet, it say that it's always open, what exactly does that mean? does that mean that it's better for this sort of project? also, does this have 1 input and 2 outputs?

Always open or normally open? NO and NC (normally closed) are a way to describe its default state. A NC noid would block air by default, activating it would channel the air to the output and then close again when the signal is gone. A NO noid will be the opposite, outputting air by default, activating it will stop that flow, then return to outputting air once the signal has stopped.

That is a 3 way, thus it has 1 output, 1 input and a vent. What you are after is a 4/5 way (depending on their venting system) if you need it to have a pair of outputs. With 2 outputs, in the paintball world, 1 output port will be NC and the other NO, so long as you put the hoses on right the operation will be what you are after.
