will you able to run a lower op psi with this bolt maybe to quiet things down a bit?

Confusion...
So I just shot the videos of the Mini shooting tuned to be gentle

Mini shot fine with room temp paint and stock bolt, blended the freezer paint

Mini shot fine with room temp paint and Eigenbolt, blended the freezer paint?

Retuned the Eigenbolt to it's own gentle tune, ended up being the same pressure as the stock bolt, but could use a lower dwell

Tried the pinch test with some JT Fluid Hydro paint (not uber brittle) and the Eigenbolt, and it chopped it in half

The idea behind the Eigenbolt is sound, less area for the air to act against the bolt, softer start; I have no idea why the Eigenbolt is not doing any better than the stock bolt
:/

I'll post the shooting videos soon

Why the hell is frozen paint being tested? Has it just been chilled or is it literally frozen? What temperature are they exactly? Does your testing have any controls? Shouldn't you be testing if the mini can shoot cold paint, not frozen paint? Not many people play paintball in the arctic tundra.

Maybe you should test the bolt for conditions people who buy it will actually put it through, not holding a frozen paintball suspended halfway in the breach. Can't say I've ever been in that situation before in a game...

Set the psi to 190 for efficiency since the bolt is designed to be gentle on paint. Lower the dwell until fps start to drop, then bump up a blink or two. Now, go outside in this warm weather, shoot a thousand rounds of ultra evil, and tell us how it did.

frozen paint is more brittle....its a good test to see how gentle it can go

AZN - how is the tightness on the outer ring (on the spacer) to the inside bolt sail? If that seal leaks, it behaves like a stock bolt. TNT noticed that in his testing.

Exactly.

I too tried frozen paint from the freezer and some that was just left outside in the snow for a few hours. I had a couple of "barrel breaks" when testing this bolt and that was it. I never choped a ball and still have not. I used a small strip of teflon tape to make the seal tight as possible between the ring and the sail of the bolt. My bolt and ring slide very smooth on my bolt guide.

Does the aluminum ring move around with the bolt on the bolt guide? Or does it stay in place and act as a bumper/seals with the bolt when the spring is expanded?

I'm looking around for a bolt right now, it's either going to be the eigenbolt or the aluminum techt one.

The ring and bolt move together as one.

Well then I must have installed the bolt incorrectly?
I took off the bumper oring and slid the aluminum ring into place. It stays still while the bolt moves.

As far as I know, the sail oring on the aluminum ring seals well with the bolt
It's a tight fit, so I don't think it leaks

I have also confirmed that the breaks are starting in the breech.
There is paint on the bolt face and before the detents.

To clarify, the bolt moves, the spacer does not.

AZN: it's hard to say exactly that there is no improvement - Although I am somewhat surprised it did not pinch room temperature paint, since TNT found that was possible to do. Probably somewhat dependent on pressures?

However, with regard to the freezer paint it may be just that that paint was to a point that it was just going to be extremely difficult to shoot through almost any setup - it's hard to quantify these things since often one chop leads to many more. obviously asking you to sweep out the full continuum of paint brittleness to quantify the improvement is probably not realistic.

I will try with chilled paint (and not frozen) as well to get the paint more brittle than normal, but not to the extreme, since I do know that Joy Division chills their first pods

But I also did find it strange that it didn't bounce off the regular grade paint that's thicker shelled
That's when I decided that something was funny

In any case, I'll continue to test, so I guess the videos won't be out till later

Yeah its been hot and humid up in WI for me so I have been keeping my marbs in a cooler with some ice to keep them dry and at a good temp, with my Eigenbolt I have not had a single chop or ball break with the gun still at all stock settings shooting around 265PSI

Actually most of the benefits of the bolt should be present without significantly adjusting settings.

well I have noticed the kick is pretty much gone with the new bolt, I used to have to move my gun down when i started to shoot to keep on target now it just stays in place
