ohh since they sell them they must be quality computers then!

a $500 laptop has the lowest end components possible.

It's not going to have an i7 obviously.

You can still get quite a good laptop for $500.

You can get some super nice Asus or MSI laptops on Newegg that consistently get rave reviews.

I bought my wife a Lenovo Ideapad S12 and it has been a great little computer. I could never use it everyday, but for her basic schoolwork and web browsing it's ideal.

No, but typically for me criteria is usually a computer that can last for more than a month

a $500 laptop will be so bogged down with **** simply from windows updates it will be obsolete in under 2 years.

Well something like that will happen if your the computer illiterate type even with a top of the line computer. Either way my 2+ year old laptop still runs cleaner than most computers people recently purchased, simply because they have absolutely no computer knowledge what so ever.

Absolutt is either the most successful troll ever or most pompous douchebag ever.

Either way, impressive.

it's a combination of both in most cases, but in the end it comes down to the tried and tested saying

"you get what you pay for"

a $500 laptop is virtually the cheapest laptop you can buy without it being a net book, therefor you are buying the lowest quality laptop available

both my Vaio's have stood the test of time with my first still running like it was bought yesterday and it's nearly 3 years old at this point, case in point that computer was $1499 at the time i bought it and it's been amongst the best computers i've ever owned

i dare somone to try and tell me they could say any $500 laptop is amongst the best computers theyve ever owned.

So you think everyone is in the market for $1500 laptops now?

And everything gets outdated no matter what you spend. If you're just using the laptop for office applications and internet, why would you spend $1500 on it? I've bought a few laptops around that price. All were great for what I purchased them for.

That's like saying don't spend $600 on a desktop because a $1600 one is better. DUH.
