The "Which marker should I buy?" thread(The VS thread)

This should settle all the reposting of threads that look much too similar...

If you see another gun which you feel is important please post and I will add it to the poll...

edit--This thread originally was a poll. But has morphed into a normal thread.

Feel free to discuss and compare markers to you're blue in the face. This is the place to ask which marker is better between two or more markers, or what's better for a certain price range.

Ahhhh. That New thread smell. Alright let's kick things off.

What's better for a first pump, a Phantom or a "Sniper"(Cocker Pump)?

Completely different markers. If you play pump, then get the pump. If you're a speedball player, then frankly I think there are much better uses of your money than an SLG. Try finding a used Ego or Dm on bst. Much better marker, and not for a whole lot more money.

by all means, avoid the slg. It would be worse than what your pmr. get something a little different. AKP would be a good choice for fun & a great option if there's nothing challenging about the other players that weekend.

Don't get me wrong, I love pumps, and I have A KP on the way to me now. Pumps are a blast to use at practices, and will definitely be cheaper all while making you a better player. Like the other guy said, avoid the SLG. There are MUCH better guns for your money.

When it works, it keeps up with anything on the field. Unfortunately, they have reliability problems. Many cases include the gun going into "full auto" on it's own, bolt stick, chopping, and the bolt not going all the way back (preventing balls from falling into the breech). I'd suggest you look into a different marker in that price range.
Thanks! So I've scratched the SLG off my list. I found 07 PMR with Evolution Hopper and 68ci 3000 psi tank for $300 (asking price). I also found a couple DM5's and a Smartparts Shocker NXT in the same price range. Thoughts on these?

Thanks!

IMHO i would stay away from smartparts since they are out of business, pmr's can be troublesome at times, i have never tried a DM5 though, might be a solid marker

Cool thanks! Now I'm starting to look towards getting a DP G3. Haven't heard any bad things so far about those...

G3s are nice but i would stick to a mini if i was in that category....dont get me wrong on the PMR, my 09 is nasty but when they go down, its a pain

Etek 1 or 2 is by far the best marker to start with if your planning on playing speedball. Its very easy maintenance, almost never breaks down, and last but not least its in the 200-300 price range.

Between those two, Etek. But in that price range, Mini.

As a novice player, I really like my dm5, its buttery smooth and quiet, esp against the shockers I got to try out; imo I think it is very accurate. It is a gas hog and I wish it had a UL frame. The stock frame is a little big for me (I wear medium latex gloves for reference) and the membrane buttons broke on me, but it was a $12 fix (plus $9 in shipping ) My second gun is a cocker pump which is a blast to play with.

Not out of business. Just down right now under bankrupcy. You can still find parts pretty much everywhere.

I actually think it would be Etek 2, Etek 1, G3. I think G3's are over priced for their performance. They could be much better.
