Thumbs up Event 2 question thread.

Hey, I'm sorry for making a thread just for me but i guess it can be for any questions involved event 2. There might be a thread already made for event 2 questions let me know im sorry and ill go there.

Moving on, so last event went very smoothly, there was only one thing i had questioned on.

The firing modes say semi uncapped and psp 12.5 on the website ect...at the event during the captains meeting it was said that everything must be capped at 12.5 meaning semi and psp. I understood and out of respect my team capped our guns and couldn't even use one gun because it shot 14. wWhat bothered me and some fellow ballers were that most people we saw were shooting semi uncapped it seemed or at least not capped whatsoever. Many of the people i saw shooting "hot" looked to be shooting a lot faster then 12.5 and i know the right thing to do in my mind is politely ask the ref to check the gun, i did and he said he would but to my knoledge he never did.

My main overall question for event 2 and the rest of the season is are the gun modes all capped at 12.5? or can semi uncapped be allowed?

Thanks a lot,
Evan & Eminent Army

Alright so another simple question keeps my mind boggled everyday for a while now, the layout was first released and practice on at PAP and OACC from what i know, but then it was changed to Chicago psp 2010 layout?

I'm curious as to why they would use that layout, i know it's easier for teams ect...but generally might not be as fair to other teams not playing chicago and unable to practice that layout. I just really like how GPL/MAPL used to release the layout a week prior to the event only because it's then fair to all teams so know one gets enough prior knowledge of the layout to make anything unfair.

Thanks again and sorry,
Evan

Evan, I understand what you are saying. We created a layout that was played for one day at OACC and PAP. There were quite a few teams that made their opinion known that this layout player very poorly. This biggest complaint was the layout made players and teams waste paint. We sat back down at the drawing board and felt that we can not have a layout that players went though alot of paint on. Quite a bit of players voiced that maybe we should use the PSP layout and not come up with another design. We felt that wouldbe best. Even those teams not playing chicago (which is after the GPL/MAPL), they still would have access to this layout. About 90% of the local fields already have this layout up at their facility for their local teams to practice on. Also, this layout was released on the 25th of May - giving at least 2 weekends for EVERYONE to playon. The teams who played on the first layout, studied it and started their game plan from seeing it on it's orginal release date have said thank you for changing it and have not had any complaints on changing it. I can understand if we changed it the week of the event after teams have been playing it however we did not, we changed it with at least 2 available weekends for teams to play it.

We try to make everyone happy but it is very hard for us to do so. The biggest change that the majority of the players and teams wanted to see was fields released with more time in advance. We decided to give this change a chance this year and see how it played out. I am sorry that we could not make you happy on this part, like i said, we always try to make everyone happy but this was one of the biggest "we would like to see changes to" from the teams.

hope to see you out there next weekend.

Evan, I know what Cyndi is saying is legit. However I want to be very honest with you and say that teams at PAP said that the field was hard to move on and teams tended to lock up lanes and sit. They were shooting about 30% - 40%+ more paint on the layout than in previous layouts with a higher number of stalemates.

The MAIN reason to change the layout was to make it friendly to your wallet. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. I don't want to speak for Rick Hartman - however his comment to me was basically that he doesn't want the GPL/MAPL to get a reputation for just being a league that makes people shoot paint to put $$ in their pockets. Granted you need to cover your costs, but the idea is this is now a PLAYERS league.

They changed the layout to keep games flowing and lowered paint costs for teams in the semi-finals and finals. This was ALL to help keep the game affordable in tougher economic times.

Advanced layouts and practice are over hyped. Just show up and play. No need for practice and no need to play the layout ahead of time.

There are no Temp ID cards. The cost is $40 before deadline (Wednesday), $50 after deadline (Thursday and Friday), $50 at event (Saturday and Sunday).
