i'm from jersey and don't drop like that ever. the regular drop step is fine enough even on windier days. the more fluid you can get the board to the ground and your back foot on without losing momentum, the farther you'll get in the water. timing is also reaalllyy key.
I haven't had too much time on this, it tends to submarine into the waves, even with the more experienced surfers trying it out. Catches every wave if I can just find the sweetspot. I rode it back to the beach over two sandbars a couple of times. Just haven't been able to catch the bigger waves without faceplanting in the water. I am too much of a newbie but I'll figure it out eventually. Just need more time than 1 week of vacation. Part of it was from not standing up fast enough. I'd have to say snowboarding has more instant gratification.
Once you got a 1 step, everything opens up. The right way is back foot first, but I do my front out of bad habit. But I've seen people who jump and scoop it under their feet, monkey crawl, hold the board like their regular, but get on goofy footed, I guess it comes down to whatever works for you.

it'll all eventually come to you once your more comfortable on the board. watch this video cause some parts are in slow motion and might help show you how he's positioned on the board when he turns. idk it might help lol?
How much do you guys think I could get for my Al Merrick 6'3 tuflite? I bought it stupidly, I have 2 other boards both custom shaped they are 5'6 swallow tails and I want to get another one, but don't have the money.

you go to the wedge? all the videos I've seen of that place are crazy, it looks insane like people getting killed, but I've never been around waves that big to know what it feels like to get hit by them.
anyways, my new stick came in today 5'5" 19 1/4 dumpster diver. Didn't get a chance to get it wet with the the hurricane comin in. Epic swell though this weekend. (Just moved from NSB,fl to luqiullo, pr on july 1st).
