i try to avoid using them. only at car shows. something about rubbing dirt off doesnt seem smart to me. i know a lot of other people feel the same.

yep. in the tsx i try to keep up on just running it through a cheap spray wash. it will stay clean unless its really dirty. civic is too low for those so i have to hand spray it every time.

Don't do it.

I wouldn't even do it at a car show.

I guess I can always rinse it off at home pretty easily. I am going to try and get in a groove of keeping it clean, because I slacked off pretty hard with my truck.

If i keep up on a waxing my tsx a few times i year its really easy to keep it clean by just running it through a ****ty gas station touchless every so often. i will hand wash it probably once a month.

well the ****ty touchless wash is like $10 and always did a ****ty job on my truck, so I really don't want to go there. I figure I can keep it basically clean myself, and I have heard there is a place close to my work that will hand wash for $20. That's not terrible if I am feeling lazy.

it seemed powerful, but it seemed like where the truck had curves like on the stepside bed would always stay dirty. There were real cheap touchless ones like you are saying at the gas stations near school, but I never used one.

They are terrible for your paint.

If you are removing pollen, dirt and other nasty things, they can really add a lot of spider webbing and scratching. They might work well, but it's killing your clear.

Unless you are using a lubricant (soap) I wouldn't touch it.

I was saying don't let the water sit, because more than likely your hose water is pretty hard. You don't want that calcium to sit on your car and eat the clear.

yeah i figured, but its usually just regular dust. most shows are in the city that i go to. like i said all other times of the year i dont wipe anything on my paint.

pete if you car isnt waxed regularly the touchless washes have no chance. durt gets grimy on regular non wax paint.

what is "regularly"? Is every 3 months sufficient? Was thinking of making that my schedule.

I kind of want to, but I am kind of scared. I have heard if you make a mistake you can mess up your paint pretty bad.

porter cable is a random orbital. great for noobs and does an awesome job. with a new car like yours thats all youd ever need.

autogeek.net is where i bought my kit. i went all out and got 4 levels of pads, and 4 levels of product from them. Find a kit with the porter cable and lake country pads and whatever compounds you want.

something like this, but the one i did came with compounds too

http://www.autogeek.net/porter-cable...cessories.html

doucher is right for once.
