So... which type of exercise is better for somebody who is trying to lose fat and gain/retain muscle, HIIT or 3 mile run daily?

ideally, 30-40 minutes daily, with two days a week doing 10x 45 second pickups (not full out sprints but 400m pace)

Thanks.. I just heard that it is hard as crap to gain/retain muscle while running long distances. Whether it is true or not, I have no idea.

thats for people training for marathons and the like. its because slow twitch muscle is leaner then fast twitch

fasted isnt the way to go. a very light meal is (read as 100 calories or so) so that your stomach acid dosent cramp you up

Dommer, stfu. You give nutritional advice equivalent to that of a 14 year old anorexic girl. If there's anything you DO need to do it's eat. Just eat healthier.

save your comments for someone who cares what you have to say
i get it you lift to get big and thats it cardio isnt important to you which was illustrated nicely when you said you cant run a mile
now i know this is going to be hard to swallow for you but not every one lifts to get massive size in fact in many activities size hinders more then it helps for example look at the recent pudz vs sylvia fight his size kicked his *** sure hes the world strongest man but all that muscle hurt him more then it helped cause his cardio could not keep up with the needs of all his muscle
so take your advice and save it for someone who wants it or is asking for casue i could care less what your or your nut swinging little buddy peltco has to say and ill only take your advice when i want to get big and have 0 cardio ability

FYI, that was me exaggerating and making fun of myself because I'm a Gorilla. I run 2 miles in less then 15 mins every day, as required to pass my Army PFT.
I know my silly Masters degree means nothing, because obviously Im uneducated, and haven't been a power lifter for 10 years or anything

yea thats why he turned purple and fell on his back
it was because he gased in the first 40seconds of the fight and his cardio couldnt keep up with the needs of his muscles
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wfcQVxV5Cw
skip to 8:20ish he doesnt take a big shot doesnt take a single heavy hit he just falls over and got beat by someone whos last 2 losses came in under 40seconds
jack:
cool your a power lifter awesome ill give credit where its do your mighty strong and if you truly do run that good for you
but being your size would not go over to well with many of my activities out side of the gym id most likely be extremely uncomfortable on my bike especially on longer rides where i would be supporting all that extra weight on my wrist and mighty cramped feeling and i also wouldnt want to buy all new gear due to extra size
if you cant grasp that not everyone wants to be your size then fine but answer me this how often does being able to bench 400lbs and squat 700lbs help in normal day to day life?
