BRAC is to save money by shutting down installations that have outlived thier usefullness or operations conducted at that base can be done other places cheaper.
BRAC stands for Base Realignment and Closure. This is nothing new. If you look into the history of BRAC you will see that they closed bases way back in 1993 (Fort Ord, CA).
If you get stationed at APG you will have a great time.

When/if you get in and make it through boot then you will be one of the few and the proud. Until then you are just another P.F.C.

I was stationed there from 84-87 and 90-92. It closed in 1993 the DLI in Monterey is still there and I think the Hospital, PX and Commissary are still there. Last time I visited Ord was 1995.
It was a fun place to be stationed. We called it Planet Ord, because of the fog that would always roll in off the Ocean.
