GST propshaft wear?

Ok, heres what got me baffled, I was using my geo yeasterday and I felt that it had alot more kick than it should have, it was like shoting a badly tuned ego.

And I had to crank the HPR ALL the way out the even get close to 300 fps, and it was very inconsistent. I notised that the seat reg looks bad, so I was wondering if a ego9 piston will work in my geo considering the it was a part in the GR-2 kit?

The solenoid filter was dirty, would this have anything to do with it?

When I took it apart today I notised some wear on the tip of my propshaft

And also my back check ball has a ring on it, don`t know if it is supposed to be there or not but it looks like the spring sits into the groove.

My setup:
GR-2
GST
HP bottle reg
Paint to barrel match
and NO the volume restrictors was not put in

This is my 5 geo so I know this should shoot alot smoother, and atleast with the gst kit.

Any help would be apriciated

The solenoid filter being dirty could restrict air flow, and that could reduce your velocity, leading to the increase in HPR pressure and hence kick.

If the ring on the ball ended up against the back check valve seat, then that could allow air to leak from valve chamber when the solenoid switched, and that would also lead to a loss of velocity.

It used to be stated that wear on the Prop was due to the #010 bumper o-ring not stopping the bolt rearward movement soon enough, and that you should use a #011 o-ring instead - it's now the o-ring that is used out of the box I believe.

However, since that time, it has been found that some Propshaft tips have been a touch crooked, leading to the bolt contacting the Prop, and causing the wear.

Try a new bumper, and if that doesn't resolve the issue, contact a PE service centre about getting a replacement Prop.

Thanks, I will give that a try, any idea if the ego9 hpr piston will work in my geo gr-2? I only have the ego9 parts kit atm.

Hi,

The wear on the tip of your Propshaft is nothing to worry about and will not adversley affect your performance.

It sounds as though you need to change out your Inline regulator piston, ensure that your back-check ball is not undersized and set your dwell correctly for the GST Kit (what is your dwell set at?).

The back check ball is 4mm, but when I put it in there is not enough tension on the spring so the ball floats around alittle.

is the ball supposed to have the little ring on it?

my dwell is 14.5 ms

is there an o-ring in the ego9 kit than can be used as the #011 bumper?

thanks for fast anwsers this is why I shoot PE

If the ball is 4.00mm or larger (though between 4.00mm and 4.10mm is optimal), then that should be fine.

The ball will tend to have a slight seam right around the middle. If you are referring to anything else, I'd say no.

The spring is there to give the ball some "encouragement" in the right direction, but it should be able to function correctly just due to pressure and air flow, so the spring shouldn't be an issue.

The Ego9 kit does include #011 o-rings - in the Ego9, this size o-ring is used as the rear rammer o-ring, the o-ring around the rammer cap, and the HPR piston neck o-ring (found set in to the wall of the cavity in the base of the reg).

ok, then i`m in need of a new ball, caus it is clearly a ring on the ball that looks like a seat for the spring.

I will send nicky an e-mail.

thanks

here is a pic of the back check ball

Sorry for the double post uzi, But I discovered yet an other problem with my marker.

I took it apart and cleaned the solenoid filter, but when I put it back togeather it was leaking out trough the hole on the side
could this be caused by a damaged spool pack?

I have taken out one of those out before and it was alittle tricky to get back in, so I just want to know before i rip it apart

Make sure all the o-rings on the spool pack are in place. They like to pop off when reinserting the spool if you aren't careful. Unless you're looking real close, you won't notice the o-rings are out of place.

When I'm at work, most pictures get blocked, and I have to guess what exactly you guys are talking about half the time.

Having now seen the picture, I have to wonder if that is an intentional locator for the end of the spring, because if not, that is one hell of a fault to overlook.

Hopefully Nicky can confirm for you whether that is right or not.

If there is air leaking through that hole, either the gasket is not in place properly or is damaged, or the solenoid housing is cracked.

man open your hpr and see if its o-rings are ok... high pressure going to your marker could damage a lot of parts...

that has been done, first thing i checked, the thing is that the markes is shooting terrebly.

Hopfully it will be shooting smooth again when I replace the ball, or else I will put the stock bolt back in so it doesent hit the prop shaft. ST can and stock bolt should to the trick.

Rexcore101,

That Back-check ball definitely is not right and need to be changed. If your back-check ball is in that state, i'd like to see the rest of your solenoid, so with that in mind can you drop me an email at: nick.t@planeteclipse.com and we'll get you sorted asap.

It was so far out of round that I really wondered if you had changed the design of the back check ball to capture the end of the spring.

It just looked too far beyond the norm to *not* be intentional!

Nope - i think that this is just a heavily used marker

One interesting point though; up until today Rexcore101 hadn't registered his Geo for warranty!!!!! Please DO NOT wait until you need the warranty to register your markers folks, DO IT NOW: http://www.shop-eclipse.com/warranty-registration.asp
