Bike riding
Can rideing a bike be a legit way of cardio? And i dont mean grandma crusing,i mean intense riding on trails and peddeling as fast as i can in the straights. There is a trail that is 2.5 miles one way and im going to start biking it round trip,so 5 miles. Im getting my lazy *** back to the gym as well this summer and need a good for of cardio. For me riding a bike is fun.

Why wouldnt it be considered a legit way of cardio? Biking is pretty intense if you go at a good pace.

riding a bike 5 miles isn't legit cardio lol.
run it and it would be cardio but def. not on a bike. it would take like 10-15 minutes depending on your speed

i compete in races and time attacks (road bikes, not mountain)
on workout days at the gym, i do 10 miles (~20mh average) on a pretty substantial resistence on a stationary. on cardio days at the gym, i do 25-30 miles at the same pace. comes up at like a 3 minute mile.
then on training days i go anywhere between 35-50 miles depending on my route.
great for your legs, great on your feet/back as opposed to running and a great source of cardio.

Biking is also considered one of the better ways to build abdominal strength. But yeah, unless you're seriously busting *** 5 miles isn't ****.

Not legit huh? Lance Armstrong isn't that skinny from being bulemic! As long as you are breathing hard and your heart is pumping as a higher rate, whats the difference. Biking, running, swimming (insanely good), Cross country skiing, skating, etc. Just be like Nike, and DO IT.
