Agreed. I really didn't mind the ad on the right. I liked it there. It was out of the way and never called attention to itself or got in the way of posts. I personally feel this amount of horizontal space excessive (I was fine with the amount both back when I had a small monitor and now that I have a big) and dislike the initial vertical scrolling.
But, thanks for trying to mix things up, though!
I remember the old side bar too.

This new layout is terrible!
Please change it back to the format that everyone was happy with.
This is going to be one of those changes that everyone hates, except the people who designed the new format.

I was using the older Google. I now have Chrome. My new problem is, I can see individual pixels for all the letters. Its like I'm reading an old dot matrix printed page.
I hate Google chrome. Now I'm back to the regular Google and the margin rape.
Sorry Guys this SUCKS. I hated it during the Beta testing too.
I installed IE8. I'm happy now
