Watch some videos on form ([pbnation bleeps this out smh: Tech Paintball basically] is good), get in shape (if you aren't already), and practice in the backyard when you can. Also, at the field, if you're refs are nice, ask them for advice if they saw you. I have learned well over 50% of what I know now from asking around at the field and taking any advice people give me.
Playing with a friend is good too. You can help each other out.
Play the best people you can find. If someone like a friend can video tape you and you get out, analyze it and figure out what you did wrong and what you can change.
Also, stay away from the whole agg culture... it practically asks younger players to care more about how they look than how they play.
It all takes time though, don't get frustrated. You will see yourself doing a little better each time if you try to exercise patience and keep working at it.
