So i got the setup!... Now i need help

I just got an '04 Impulse bestowed upon me, the larger block tops. I was out shooting paint today and noticed some hard curves, dives, and plenty of chopping and double balling. which leads me to a couple questions;
1. The barrel on it is a 14 in. Progressive, would it be worth investing in a good barrel like a Freak or All American? 2. Is it only Smart Parts threaded or can i get an Autococker threaded? 3. The gun was chopping and shooting 2 or 3 balls a lot even with the eyes on, could this be from shooting hot? How can i get this gun shooting a little straighter, find the perfect setting?
Paintball is fun

Invest in some good paint first, then look into a barrel kit.

Check your detents and make sure your settings are at stock.

Impluses are Imp/Ion threads only.

How hot is your gun shooting? The double feeding is probably from old detents.Also, how old is the paint your using? Try replacing your battery to a new name brand like durracell or energizer.
