Once you hang the flag, you get checked by the refs, then you can pick up your pods and barrel bag.
Why were two live players eliminated?

i saw a lot of rub that was called for hits at the end of some games. not sure if they were true hits but they looked watered down and had very little shell...they say if there is shell its a hit but bunkers hold the shells and can wipe off easier then everyone thinks. oh well, i had fun. good event. appa site needs a little tweeking and what.

Wanna Buy A BAG?!?!

wheres there a rule that says you can't have a barrel bag on during a game , also i heard nothing all day about "out of bounds" not that this applied to us i would feel like i got kinda screwed..
Ups
weather
all paint shot well
check in/transitions between games were well spaced
Downs
-refs, we all understand its hard, and we all know you dont have to check someone, but what are you doing if your not checking someone thats playing on. its like the kids like 10 steps away.
-screwed on prizes for sure. even if you put all the team "points" together you still could barely scrape enough money back up to pay back 1 player. Ya we got 3rd but its like we want to play paintball at your field why dont you give us prizes that are useful, nobody wants gear..Atleast make it so the teams that placed make half of their money back. Honestly is our team supposed to like share a hopper or mask..? doesn't really make sense if you ask me.

Ya, i can't comment on that. That's up to how knowledgeable a ref is to make that decision.
I know I can discern the difference of rub and a hit very well.
If the bunkers are cleaned regularly that decrease s the chance of needing to determine if there's rub or not.

The rule about putting your barrel bag on is in the RULEBOOK.
You should check one out sometime. If you feel to argue this point I can find it for you...
No comment about out of bounds because i don't know if that was discussed during the captains meeting or if it is marked on the field.
At NPPL, the start gate sides had no boundaries persay but the sidelines did.
At PSP there is a boundary within all four sides.

3 man
UPS-*It was great to see how courteous and respectful all the fellow teams were... very professional!
*Even the "discount" paint shot great
*Great interaction on tips and strategy with all teams, which is perfect in a rookie format
*For being our first tourney...Refs were fair in our games and explained most of their calls
DOWNS- We only had 2 small complaints.
* One was the Best Western in Waltham was very rude and gave us a hard time about the NEPL rate thats advertised on the website.
*The other is needing a jacked up truck to make it down the rod n gun club road
****To sum it up our team should be back for the next four events.. great experience!

I was just trying to point you towards the right direction.

Don't worry, no one really does.

That was not the call
they called your barrell bag guy alive.
You had three alive, then they found the hit on the gun, playing on with an obvious hit is a 2 for 1 (only inobvious is pack but is up to ref discretion) gun should always be obvious unless it is front of the hopper and the ref is nice and knows you didnt see it and pulls you right away
had they called your guy out it would have been a reverse hang
Alty let your guy go, but I have had players pulled because they did not immediately go to check out but grabbed pods or whatever.
it says in the rules go to check out right away
by the way despite how I rag on you guys for past deads that gun hit could have been rub, it was on the tank in a place where it would have been hard, but if you have shell its going to get called
you guys played very clean today from what I saw and I should have not *****ed as much as I did and im sorry

The refs from what I saw were flying around on 5man. They were also cleaning the bunkers on a regular basis. I know here and there they were lazy but reffing 40 games is hard till youve reffed a tourney you just will not know.
I do not know if the out of bounds was gone over in the captians meeting, but I do know it has been gone over in all the captains meetings all last year for 5man. I know its conceivable that it was not people make mistakes but it is also the responsibility of the team if they have any questions to ask.
Paintball is like boyscouts you have to be prepared. I was taught that by a very old and wise player.
As far as the reffing and calls that were made at least they MADE calls. The refs from what I saw were being active and even if they make the wrong call at times at least they are trying to make the right one. For a first event as a reffing team I think they did a great job.
The one qualm I had was that sometimes the refs would call a player out to a player that was asking for a paint check on the player on the other team. "yeah hes out" I think that is players thinking more like players then refs but that takes a little time to alter.

I think that the refs were really good for me. On field 1 5 man the head ref was running across the field for me checking people for me. Also 1 ref came over to me and got domed in the head like 2 times and still makes the call.
Prizes are kinda weak though.. I didn't even come close to breaking even and if I placed 1st I don't think I would either... I really don't care though because I had a ton of fun.

Ups
Paint was solid
weather was solid
Refs cleaning the water off field 2 whenever they could
Refs running around
Refs having cool hats
Lori and the rest of the NEPL staff working there *** off as usual
Two fields getting us the hell out faster
downs
rankings of players (I applaud the NEPL for getting APPA but I think its still iffy)
5man having to wait for 7man to get parked and checked in then getting less time to walk the field because of it
5man field being different from the rotation from the week before
5man field not being completely mirrored (close but some of the tall cakes were off)
no round robin (i know its more paint but its more fair)
I was really frustrated for Invasion/Fotron as well they played hard all day and were smashing people and we beat them in one and done
I get the it costs extra paint but i would rather shoot more and know who is the better team and as youll read later if you want to make money dont play paintball
Wash (neither good nor bad)
Prizes, I think this years system is better then last year
Last year it was BPS bucks and that was more complicated then I thought it would be but it worked out in the end
This year you have the option of taking money at the end of the year if you play all 5 events.
I think that addresses the problem from last year and ensures loyalty and benefit to loyal customers
The NEPL does not do cash but offer equivalent so that you can get products for the same price you would for cash but they benefit because of there bulk discount. I am ok with that, my sponsor does the same sort of thing where we get it cheaper then base price but they still make some money.
The system is better then last year. I played 10 events last year won 4 placed in 6 and I still lost money. Most tourneys you need to take 1st to make money 2nd to break even. If you are looking to make money dont play. We had a ridiculous season last year and didnt even come close to breaking even.
Reffing to me was a wash for the most part it did what it needed to do. I only heard of one call where I questioned it, but I at least understood where the call was coming from.
All in all a good event.

On behalf of Lobsters, we thought it all went well. The XBall was a first time thing and Anthony, Lori, and the rest of the staff have done a great job making this a league decided by the players and took all those things we thought of back in February and put it together well.
First event of year, check-in and ID pickup went smoothly, time to walk fields. Reffing was fantastic. We played 5 matches and to the best of my knowledge did not encounter a single problem for or against us in those so kudos to Synergy, Necco, Jewa, and the remainder of the franchise refs.
Otherwise, paint shot great (the Evil), all teams showed great sportsmanship. Thanks again to all the staff and refs.
