Tough Mudder

Alright I know there are plenty of people who lift in this section and I'm sure there are endurance runners, but what about a competition that lets you be both? I was on FB the other day and I saw an ad for this thing and I must say it looks exhausting but fun as hell. So I figure I am going to start adding some sort of endurance training into my weeks besides just lifting but I don't really know where to start.

it says it's 7 miles so i would make sure you can run 7 miles before aything else

I would def. get some crossfit in. Seems essential to this. Also, P90X so your functional strength is up to par so you can do all that super hard tough crawling. Also, make sure your lungs and vocal chords are up to the challenge of relentless battle crying. That seems to be a big part of this.

The race I am entering is 12 miles. They have a decent "Get Fit" workout on the site as well as an amusing "Get Tough" routine.


There is a 5k of a similar nature in Titusville, called the "Run-A-Muck 5K". They even have a division in which you can wear costumes.

I can deal with being cold and such, but I'm a little worried what it will be like on my feet. 12 miles with wet, cold shoes and socks does not sound fun.

I have a hell of a lot of training to do. I run 2 miles a day right now, but that's no where close to where I want to be. Weight training starts with friends in June 1st and I hope to up to running about 7 miles a day by mid-August.
