Bought a new Altima, help me like it more?

So about a month ago I bought a brand new Altima. I like the car, but I'm just not satisfied with it at this point.

I went from driving this:

08 JK
Good:
I modded it the way I wanted it. I needed it because of the weather and I felt I got really good use out of the vehicle. (Don't knock my rhino horn. I have a personal vendetta with deer.)
Bad:
It got horrible gas mileage, was loud, and had no power options.

To driving this:
2010 Altima

Good: Power options, quick (In context), quiet, good gas mileage, fun to drive.
Bad: There are a million of them? And it seems every 40 year old woman in the world drives one

I traded in my Jeep because at the time I felt that I needed better gas mileage. Nissan had a great lease special going on at the time and I thought I was going to be taking a job with an hour commute, but it doesn't appear so anymore. So the gas mileage issue has really become a moot point and has left me kind of disappointed in my purchase.

I would like to trade it in and get something I really want now that gas mileage isn't an issue but I don't want get in over my head on negative equity.

So what do I do? Spend a little money and dress it up with some nice mods to make it more to my liking? Or do I just save my money and drive it until I can afford to trade again?

Should have kept the Jeep, but I may be biased. What kind of mileage were you getting? And it sounds like you need to realize that Jeep ownership is all about the love and making compromises--no power windows/locks for good reasons; loud for obvious reasons; gas mileage can be made better. If you had the auto, that sucks and was partially the reason. If you had the manual, then you should have been getting 18-20 mpg, which I consider OK. What axle ratio were you running?

Honestly, I would punch myself in the nuts if I traded a nice JK (TJ in my case) in for a boring, power-everything car. There will be no "dressing that car up"--think about it, that would be pointless since you're still left with a boring car. It sounds like you want another Jeep.....it's true man, once you go Jeep, you can't possibly go back to anything else without being upset.

Yeah, don't mod the altima. Keep it stock and maintained and wait for a good deal to pop up on something you like.

You're probably right. It was an auto with 3:73 gearing. 4:10 and I would have been in a much better position gas wise. But, at the time it wasn't about the love of the Jeep, it was about financial circumstances that would have made continuing ownership of the vehicle detrimental. However, life changes, right? Unfortunately, I don't get a do-over and have to deal with situation moving forward.

I hear ya man. I'd bet you could trade that '10 Nissan in on a nice used 08 or 09 JK and be happy with the deal. Go for a 6 speed and 3.73 and if you can, a 6 speed Rubi. If you're not happy with what you're driving, the situation won't change. Trade her in on another Jeep.

That's totally not true. I have a Jeep right now, and I cant wait until I can switch back to a BMW again.

Anyway, don't mod your car. If you want, put some tint on it (in CA, tint adds $100 to your cars overall value if you resell it). Then just go invest in a nice sound system for like $600 and you're good to go. You can take the system with you to your new car when you get rid of the Altima, and your car won't look trashy as a result. Then just enjoy the car until you can buy another Jeep.

That seems to be the general consensus. So that's probably what I'll do. As for complaining, it's my hard earned money so I want to get as much joy out of it as I can

It's true if you're into the Jeep lifestyle. You're obviously not quite there so you don't agree. That's cool but those of us that are at that point would rather drive a Jeep over anything. I've driven several E46 M3's and while they are definitely cool cars in many senses of the word, it doesn't give ME the same experience as my Jeep....and it definitely can't go half the places. I honestly believe that I wouldn't like my Jeep as much if I had the 42rle (auto used in 05-06 TJ's and all JK's), or any auto for that matter. It takes the fun out of things.

Every girl I know that has a Jeep (when I say Jeep in this thread, I am referring to any generation of Wrangler) doesn't have a clue about their vehicle and most of them are in crappy shape. Your sister's jeep is probably no different. I wouldn't like my Jeep if it was geared poorly and/or had a slush box, was on little tires and wasn't built well. You're welcome to come drive mine any day. I guarantee it will change your opinion.

Now back to the Nissan--it's a 2010 and has decent value. Either learn to enjoy it or trade it in on something you like more. Myself--that car would be boring as hell. 4 door, slow, power-everything yuppie car. I'm not judging but that's what most sedans look like to me. If you want an exciting sedan go pick up a S4 or M3.
