I'm with all of you that don't like the performence of the .50 cal but it is a real solution for the rental and begginer market .

so i'm not a true baller cause i'm a walk on player? i don't get to play every weekend but i go as often as i can, i don't support .50 cal because the science that and over here tournement ball his hard to come by i can think of 2 fields within the entire region that have speedball.. i perfer it but can't play it.., i have yet to see a single .50 cal gun out here its not even talked about at all

To the thread starter
I highly doubt even if all the 50 cal companies decided to close up shop on your behalf you would play more than another year or two. Guess it's true that what people fear most is change. You're not going to be in the sport much longer, 50 cal isn't out to "replace" 68; if you didn't believe everything anyone tells you then you would know that.
Either way, you'll most likely have quit paintball in a year and will be trolling ST like every other tourney player that has come and gone leaving destruction in their wake.
|
But you have to well understand, that even though the .50 cases will be coming with 4,000 paintballs instead of 2,000 you will be shooting at least 3 times as much paint. How do I figure this, because one the only competitive speedball hopper right now that loads .50 is a torque. When they were showing it the torque load mouth holds about roughly 180, but with .50 it held about 450 paintballs. so thats close to double the amount of paint you will be shooting. All .50 is, is a scam to earn the business more money in this struggling economy. Like every other educated paintballer, especially one that plays on a regular bases and plays competitively .50 will never take over paintball. It will most likely be at best a side option for players or be more directed for new players and law enforcement or military training. That is if it is lucky, if not it will be a dying idea within another year.

you somehow just turned one of the biggest positives for .50 cal into a negative through some weird sort of reasoning...
maybe you'll shoot the same amount of paint, you'll just play a speedball game with a smaller harness with smaller tubes. I think having that much paint might slow down the game though....400+ balls without stopping to reload can close off a path for a long time (if you could reach across the field and break a ball )

I would play with a friend and split a case and play more often. I don't need to shoot more paint just cause my gun holds more.
I think 50 cal is a good idea, obviously paintball has quit growing so maybe something new could be good.

This goes on to my next point, players will feel the instinctive need to shoot more paint. When PSP was allowing 15 bps ramp, games were ending quickly, which forced team to shoot less paint. As the bps ramp decreased through the years more of the teams had to buy more paint because of the consumption to shoot more paint to hold down a lane. Trust me I play xball and 5 man every weekend. Just because you might have 400 paintball doesnt mean you can close up a game that easily. I seen one player shoot close to a case a game on the field just to hold down lanes. I wont be surprised when players will still be caring 6-7 pods on to the xball field of .50 and there hopper amount too.

I currently own an ego7, and DM9. I've owned 3 ego7s, a Dm8, 2DM7s. I've used several NTs, Luxe's, one SL94, dozens of PM's, ego9s, Aftershock ego10, and A rapper. And I'm still gonna say the Nano was the smoothest gun I've ever shot.

Likely because it's shooting a smaller projectile with less pressure than you're accustomed to using. Or maybe because it's a lot like a smaller Shocker/Ion (sorry, not sure which internals it uses), which both sacrifice performance for low pressure operation.

I agree. Smaller projectile+lower pressure. Shoots just as good as .68 imo. The hits are a little smaller though.. Shoot'em twice.

50 cal
pros:
fill is the same as .68 cal
smaller shot for tighter angles
cheaper per shot
more paint in pods and hopper fits
cons:
harder to break
makes you replace gear
hard to find the paint in national events
.68 cal
pros:
dont have to convert
easy break
cons:
fill is only half way
more expensive per ball
cant fit as many in your pods and hopper as 50 cal

A CASE OF .50 CAL PAINT IS 60 BUCKS BECAUSE THERE ARE 4,000 PAINTBALLS IN THE FREAKIN CASE! LOOK AT IT! THATS DOUBLE THE PAINT FOR ONLY 20 DOLLARS MORE! (than where I play)
I have been playing a tournament series in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. Our series is FPO. And most tourneys are FPO which means people have to buy their own paint there.. so its .68 just like we love.
Who is promoting .50 cal the hardest? Kingman. What is Kingman in the tourney scene? oh im sorry. who are they? Do any of you shoot spyders in tourneys? no.. im pretty sure you dont.
Ever since .50 cal came out I've been researching it. Getting facts straight. And I am telling you not to worry about .50 cal. Its for kids to play in the woods with and their Co2. So let em have it. More fun for them in the woods. Smaller paint and Less air used means more fun. Let the recball/woodsball kids in backyards have it.
If you are trying to boycott .50 cal then boycott the ENTIRE COMPANY! Don't buy from companies that are selling/promoting .50 cal. That's the only way that anybody will make a point. I promise you that.
Happy ballin

I hate to inform you that your loader will hold and feed .50 cal. You just need to be smart to figure out how to get your loader to do it.
So all you do is take a hack saw, get an Extreme Rage Multi-Caliber loader, take the .50 cal insert and saw it off to the straightest point you can. shove it up the feedneck of your loader. there ya go. your pinokio holds 6 to 7 hundred paintballs. (I use a pinokio so thats what I looked at, I AM NOT SURE ABOUT A ROTOR.)

Planet is making them and blast I building prototypes, so is dp.
If you want to boycott .50, then don't buy, planet, blast, any kee product, and g.I.
Oh wait, that's 80% of the market.
