you're supposed to season cast iron cookware if it is bare iron. Seasoning is simply spreading crisco all around the outside and inside and then baking it for a couple hours.

Cast Iron dutch ovens are easy to find at a sporting goods store that specializes in camping. A popular brand would be Lodge.

it used to be that people that were on an ROTC scholarship were ineligible for the GI bill because of getting over X amount of money already. With the post 9/11 GI bill that no longer exists so you will be eligible for the GI bill. I had to have an official record of counseling stating that I was made aware of my qualifying for the GI bill.

I get that. I want bare iron. It has a weird texture I dont really like. Also, on another note with all this knife talk, check out my new project. If all goes well, may start making my own kitchen knives. Who knows, it will probably crash and burn.

I can make it better then I can spell it:p

It takes a lot of practice to become good at them.

I don't use my pairing knife to make tournes(:p) I got myself a birds beak knife. Makes it much easier because of the thinner blade. I can still do it with a pairing knife, just not as fast.

Yeah, I started with a birds beak as well, but over time I found it easier to work with my pairing knife. The other reason I use my pairing knife is because eventually the birds beak needs sharpening and it's literally impossible to do because of the angle of the blade (at least with the stones we have available).

i hated doing the tournes during school, it was one of those cuts that they had us learn but we only did in our intro class and possably on our final graduation test. but i to found a birds beak knife to be the easiest for me. the best way i have found to practice my knife cups is no matter what i'm cooking i work on one specific cut, dieces for mash pot, julienne cuts for stirfrys or fijitas, etc.

I made some pork ribs the other day, they were damn delicious but I'm sure there are a million recipes out there that would beat it. First I boiled the ribs for about 20 minutes or something then I made a dry rub, **** I can't even remember what I put in it, basically just take your favorite spices and seasonings and mix up something that has a lot of depth of flavor and salty and hot enough for your liking. Garlic powder is great, there was also some cayenne and paprika in there and a bunch of other ****, I just winged it but it was awesome, patted down the ribs with the dry rub then popped them on the grill for a bit until they were nice and charred then just threw on some bbq sauce, I was lazy so I just used bullseye but if you want to get wild you can make your own!
turned out good.

Sure I do.
1-I'm looking for a nice knife set. Where online can you recommend to read about the different companies/sets? I have a bunch of Calaphon(sp?) and are ok but want to upgrade soon. Money is the biggest obstacle

2- i love to cook chicken. usually breast with whatever spices/herbs i have laying around. whats yer favorite dish to make like in under 20 minutes? maybe something that goes with rice or potatoes since i'm usually feeding all 4 of us.
