I searched the forums but could not find an answer - which may just be my inability to search well....

Going to my first tournament next weekend. The paint cases are $5 difference - is there a big difference in how the more expensive one will shoot? I am not into wasting money, but also feel that 15-20 bucks is no biggie in the scheme of things if it is all that big a difference (3 man tournament so figure 3-4 cases).

In paintball..youll hear this alot..

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR....

you pay $35 for a case of "white box"..youll get poopy white box throw away paint....its shoots...just not great.

You pay $40 for a case of DXS heat or something...it will shoot a bit better...but its poorer quality than other more expensive brands..

You pay $65 for Tourney grade paint....it shoots amazing...and its just brittle enough to break on the littlest things...

For Rec play, or practice, I usually try to find the best paint for my money... I usually ask what type of paint will be at the field before hand and make my decicion accordingly. Ask about the types of paint if you dont know about them..

My local field Has All-Star, Evil Tourney Grade, DXS Heat, Weapons Grade, Spectrum, and some other crappy stuff....
I do work for my field so I do save a bit of cash...maybe sometimes scoring some paint for free....if its free...ill use it..idc if it is white box.

I mainly shoot All-Star because it shoots really good...and is $10-$15 cheaper then the Evil..and because its what i used back in the day through my shocker...never let me down, and its looks cool lol.

Now if its an Event, or a local tourney that might mean something besides just a "practice event"....I bring like $200-$300 just for paint,....I buy the best stuff and ALOT of it. Playing Short bump/Doritio side, I shoot a CRAP TON of freakin paint.
I buy the best because I dont want to loose a game...or have something stupid happen if I get the call to bunker. Bounces piss me off...Even more when its like 2-3 in a row when im doing a run through to end the game...then end up getting zippered.

i dont like to waste money either...i know were your coming from...but dont skimp on paint for a tournament. Get the best...play your best...win.

our indoor field uses all star - I like the way it shoots.

for next week's event the paint is 50 or 55 per case and for the series we start the end of the month they are offering 3 grades - $35, $45 or $55 paint (prepaid) or $40, $50 $60 paint (at event)

so I gather going with the best grade really will make a difference with what you are saying....

I bought one case of polar on sale to shoot in our backyard this winter and it was crap so did learn my lesson re CHEAP paint, but none of this is cheap paint so was really just wondering - especially with next week's only being 5 difference if it was worth it....

get the best paint you can buy at the tournament. dont wanna risk it, or say "wat if i didnt bounce that guy... would i have gone to finals?"

You can't really just say is it worth it to pay the extra five dollars or not like at my feild you pay 45 for stinger and 50 for premium so in that case the 5 dollars is way worth it but of your shooting two really good paint brand then the 5 dollars might not matter also depends on weather cause if it's cold out you might not wanna pay the extra money for the more brittle paint

i like the idea that if theres xball silver and xball gold, get a case or two of gold and the rest silver, mainly using gold in just your loader at the start of games so you maximize your effectiveness off the break, besides, xball silver rules too.

Evil is amazing, at a small local tourny and everyone was shotting it for 47 a case...
**** was so nice, you could barely even feel it when they break on you.

get 1/2 of the mid grade and 1/2 of the high grade for nepl.
