Buy a regular Scuba tank. Usually they are cheaper to get filled, are larger, get filled to a higher pressure, and are cheaper to purchase and hydro.

Then just get a $20 adapter off eBay.

pretty sure firefighter tanks get filled to 4500 while scuba tanks are 3000. but scuba tanks are probably cheaper and easier to find

SCBA (firefighter bottles) tanks are less common, but not necessarily more expensive. SCUBA tanks would cost less to fill because they are a lower pressure. Most SCBA bottles are 4500 psi, SCUBA tanks are 3000 psi. The size of the SCBA vs. SCUBA is not standard. Some are bigger than others. The hydro cost is the same but typically SCUBA tanks are in much better condition because firefighting is very hard on gear.

An scba(firefighter tank) will fill to 4500, the only problem is there arent many places that fill them.(unless you are friends with a firefighter) Scuba tanks are more readily available, definatly cheaper, easier to fill. They only get filled to 3000 though.

There are some SCBA bottles that are made at 3000PSI Like ISAs where as Scott SCBA Bottles are 4500. When using an SCBA bottle you need to be careful and make sure you get the right size especially when you go to refill it. each one also puts out and is refilled differently so you need to make sure you know what your doing with an SCBA. Fire Fighters are trained to use them and they are tricky. I speak from experience as a firefighter.

Talk to your local fire department. I am a firefighter and we have the adapters to fill bottles for makers. We fill bottles for a dollar. If the have the equipment to do it I am sure they would be more than happy to fill a tank for u. They might even have an old SCBA bottle laying around they would sell to u for a decent price.

Most departments will NOT fill paintball bottles. Tax payers paid for the compressor and fill station. Government agencies like police and fire departments are not around to make a profit, so charging paintballers to fill tanks is not the way most departments work. That would be like visiting your local police station and buying gun powder (that the tax payer bought for police use).
But clearly not all departments operate the same

Maybe they toss the $1 into a charity/fund raiser of some sort... can't image it'd be for profit. My captain would have my *** if i was fillin bottles for a profit.

Ya should of pointed that out. We do not do it for profit. It gets thrown into a kitty for candy at halloween for the kids in the community and stuff like that. And we will do it for free, its kinda like a donation to the candy fund.
