I own both an ego and a geo. It's tough to say which I like better. They are the 2 best representations of the poppit and spool valves in my opinion. I like the way the geo shoots better because of the smooth, crisp and quiet shot. I like the ego because of the efficiency. The Ego is easier to shoot with the fatter tanks because of my mask hits it, but you just have to figure out what positioning works with the geo. Overall, I say both are the best. Either way, Planet Eclipse has created, in my estimation, the best of both worlds.

I had a geo and it shot well but it had a tendancy to break paint more than my ego 07. However, I just got a droid and imo the droid is a much better shooting gun if you can deal with the more complex design with more o-rings to worry about. The droid takes more time to take apart and lube versus the geo but I don't mind. As for efficiency I did not do a test to see which one is more efficient but it seems like I can get more games off of a full fill with the droid then I ever was with the geo. Just my .02

The Droid is generally more efficient than a Geo, but like you said - more o-rings to deal with, and that means potentially more things to go wrong. A lot of people will accept a drop in shot count for a simpler marker with less to go wrong.

As for breaking paint, was this before or after the release of the G-R2? Geo's had a bad reputation for breaking paint with the original bolt kit, but since the release of the G-R2 (which was of course a free upgrade for anyone who registered their Geo), most people have found the Geo to actually be very soft on paint.

I didn't even realise there were any problems prior to the GR2 to be honest... Only issue I had was thr screws coming loose and that's it... It was shooting really nice then... I must have been lucky

like people said its preference. I like my geo because it feels smoother than the ego I had and there is no kick and its quiet. Also the maintenance is super easy and i dont like the bolt cycling in front of me on the ego, it distracts me.

Problems weren't universal, but a fair number of people were breaking more paint than expected.

Basically, the tip of the Prop was a bit longer in the original bolt kit, which was obviously beneficial in terms of preventing roll back and keeping the ball aligned with the eyes (which was the whole point).

However, the downside was that it gave the bolt a longer "run up" before it came in to contact with the ball. Literally, despite only being a small difference in length, the bolt picked up enough extra speed as it accelerated to crack a ball when it hit it. Shortening the tip of the Prop just a fraction, so that the ball was a little closer to the tip of the bolt, slowed the bolt down just enough at the point of impact for that not to occur.

It's amazing what a big difference such a small change can make.

^^indeed. Props to Jack et al for even figuring out that was the cause...

Eclipse sent me a pre-GR2 GEO to test to see if I wanted to switch from the EGO...I had so many problems I never got it past the chrony range and pulled the trusty EGO back out. But then I shot it once the GR2 was in there and WOW. immediately switched over and haven't looked back since! My Team claims that I actually giggle loudly now as I shoot, and sometimes even break out into jubilent song...I can't confirm that this is true...but I can confirm that I am definitely happy with my GEO!!

It's personal preference. Geos shoot fine but I prefer Egos. Jack is in a no win situation with me when it comes to Geos. People want their spoolies to be smoother and quieter but due to me being so used to Egos, the smoother he makes the Geo the less I like it.

I know what you're saying. I love my Ego8 so much, i was very reluctant to try a Geo. I have used it for 1 tourney and 1 practice so far and I am beginning to love it... maybe even more.

ok pay real attention at what I'm going to say cause I'm not a gun whore/fan...

This weekend I played a tourney and used a WGP black magic autococker, a DM8 and my geo later on. My autococker was not accepting the delicate paint my team got and a friend of mine was using my geo... so I went in with a DM8... then I gave him the DM8 and took the geo to myself.

I'm a guy who played with many many markers, I don't know what's wrong but I've never seen a DM shoot straight like people say or like any of my cockers or the geos I played with. They don't get even close... and I'm talking about DM's with 16" carbon fiber barrels and ultralights, compared to out of the box geos. There was this guy exposed to me at whom I shot dozens of balls, could not get him out with the DM8 cause most balls would fly off and some wouldn't even reach him at all. This gave me a creepy sensation since it performed worse than every marker I've owned.

The geo shoots more straight, better accuracy and range. Paint coming out of DM's, egos and cockers go about the same distance, paint coming out of geos cover longer distances than all of the other markers.

Only problem, if paint breaks in your geo, you won't be able to play anymore, cause then they will fly like crazy... cockers and dms perform better when you have a dirty barrel/chamber.

At this recent tourney I'm talking about (CBP 1 etapa - Brazil), there was a dye booth with a gun tech and an eclipse booth with a gun tech, I think the eclipse guy's name was PJ or TJ... well for the whole tourney, we would see the dye gun tech sweating his @SS off with so many NT's to be fixed while the eclipse gun tech would be there just chilling... most of the markers he took to fix were geos, including mine, but even so, it was clear to me that the NT was not as reliable as the geo. Ego owns all at this despite having less accuracy and range.

i have an sl74 and have played with dm's egos droids clones etc etc

i know this is the geo forum but when i picked up a brand new out of box geo and took it out to shoot it i instantly fell in love....

it shot straighter than my well worn in 74..... it was quieter....and it was easier to shoot so much so i was getting 2+ bps over my normal speed (12-4bps to 14-16bps)

i have my heart set on a geo 2.... im really hoping one comes in blink or pruple blue....

Follows on from Blink and Gilver.

It's what Vicious49 called the Thistle SLs before the official name of the colour scheme was released.

what I was trying to say is that if you happen to get a ball chop inside the marker and your barrel gets dirty, that's gonna reduce accuracy much more in a geo than in dms or cockers...
The geo has the best shooting quality, EXCEPT if a ball breaks, in this case until you clean the barrel it will shoot like crazy and it will be very, very difficult to hit someone.

[quote=TRiiPiiN;65707158]Ok ill give u a real answer, imo and many others spoolies do shoot straiter, now i know everyone is going to bash me on that but its true, either being because of the fact that they have less kick or that they are internal designs, anyone who has shot both realize it.

You're right, people might bash you....because your statement defys the laws of physics...ALL guns shoot the same distance/accuracy, given they are shooting the same paint, with the same barrel.

But seriously...
Shoots smooth
Same accuracy as EVERY other high end gun
Made by Eclipse
