proto slg 09 ul, lets talk about them =]

so i hear alot of people talking about these guns sucking, and you can get a better marker and stuff for the price we payed. well for all you haters out thereee, i used my gun at xtreme plex the other day. slg shoots great and its quiet. i can walk up the field and take out 3-4 people, its so quiet no one knew where i was, they just saw my balls haha. i think this gun is great, becuase while people spend 1000 dollars on egos, i can wreck them with my slg. so everyone who purchased an slg, go to some fields and prove this markers great and that you dont need a 1000$ gun to pwn

I will say that when it works, I really like my UL SLG.

I used it in a scenario game last Saturday and didn't have a single problem with it all day.
I lost count of how many people I hit but it was definitely over a dozen.

I own a UL SLG 2009 . all i have is a stiffi on it, and i honestly feel like it shoots terrible. my gun shoots really rough like the bolt on the inside is being "Rammed" back into my shoulder. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but i personally hate the way it shoots and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone. if anyone can help me out and tell me why it shoots so rough please let me know, but until it shoots smoother than i will NEVER recommend it to some one again.

Yeah, the SLG definitely has a noticeable kick to it, at least compared to other spool-valved guns, but coming from a real firearms background I think anyone who dislikes a paintball gun based on the amount of recoil is in need of perspective.

Although I wonder, HandsomRansom, is your rear bolt bumper torn up? Mine tears itself apart every case or so and when it's shot the recoil gets noticeably worse and the gun starts making a metallic "ping" noise when fired.

i think you need to lube your bolt, i lube my bolt after i paintball every time. i have no recoil at all. it actully shoots silent. people compliment me on how light and silent my gun is. all my friends say its quiet on the field too. so slap some lube on it

i actually lube it after every time i go play. Im not quite sure what you mean by "Rear bumper" but ill look at the bolt. I honestly just wish it would shoot smoother.

No, it's not part of the backcap, it's on the bolt itself.
It's not an O-ring either, but a tire-shaped piece that acts as a shock absorber for when the bolt reaches the forward end of its stroke.
Supposedly DYE has corrected the compound for the rubber used in this part and the new ones come in some kind of orange material.

I really liked my SLG UL. I had a problem the first week at paintball. I send it in to dye and fixed up the problem and had NO PROBLEMS at all. Until some douche broke into my house and stole it(alongside some other things in my room).

On another sub-topic: Does Dye/Proto ever going to consider to sell a stock SLG with an on/off ASA? because it bothers me that, compared to prices, I can get another gun that the company starts with D and another that starts with S with the on/off stock. Since I wrote this, how about creating another thread asking "what would you make Dye/Proto give you out of the box when buying from them?"

Back on topic: I wouldn't say that the SLG is silent because it's actually noisy for me and I have some keen ears when I want it. Compared to a poppet I would suggest that it's silent. But for another spooly I would respectfully disagree. For kick issues you have to know the way the SLG shoots. It's jost the whole bolt(without the plunger if the name's right) moving foward and back to position. On another spool-valve like the DMs you would see something like a 3rd of the size of the respective bolt just doing the movement. Making the other rest weight making a reduction of the actual kick.

Wooaaaaa.... That is WAY To much lube. You should have NO lube on your bolt.

I have shot at least 7 cases and that oring has not even started to shred yet.

My SLG UL 09 before I sold it was super smooth and super quiet with less kick than just about any other marker I've tried. The sound signature from my observation depended most upon the barrel used. Poor paint to barrel match leads to a louder sound signature. More porting on the barrel also makes it quieter at the price of decreased efficiency.

If you understand how to maintain the marker and tune it, it will be a workhorse. If you don't understand how the marker works, you'll be disappointed.

The older black bumpers were very prone to falling apart. Has nothing to do with the lube. The new orange replacement bumpers seem to be harder and last longer.
