what would cause a Geo to shoot at low fps?

okay my geo wont shoot over something like 245fps and it wont go any higher.
what are some simple causes of this problem cause i dont think it is anything major.

EDIT: yes it also has the GST installed.

The spacer thingy is actually the black restrictor that comes with the ST kit. It's two half circle pieces held together with two o rings. If those are installed it will reduce your velocity. They are meant to be installed for shooting reballs.

the GST kit comes with 2 spacers... you should only have those installed if you are using the GEO with things like indoor arenas with lower FPS and reball... so you can simply insert 1 or both spacers and drop the fps by 30 or 60.

LP tank or not HP 800psi+, gst restrictors, and low dwell are all you need to look at.

like Fenix said don't use an LP tank even mid output tanks are finicky on Geo's, and if you are using an HP tank you might wanna get it tested and make sure it is pumping out 800-850 psi. and w/ GST you're supposed to bump the dwell up a couple. should be 14.5 if you haven't dwell tuned yet, but i doubt that's the problem.

Make sure your barrel is sized correctly to whatever paint you're shooting.

Check that the bolt tip o-ring is in good condition.

Clean the back ball in the solenoid.

Make sure that the ball is no smaller than 4.00mm in diameter.

Check that the hole behind the o-rings on the can is just a pinhole, no larger.

You might need to install an LP spring in your reg.

Can you supply additional info on the marker?

- Did you buy it new? If so, how old is it and was it serviced?
- Did the problem start just recently? If so, did you change anything before the problem started?

- Did you try a different HP airsystem yet?
- Even you changed the battery, did you try another different and fresh quality battery?
- Did you check the internals have just a very light, just shiny lubing? The Geo just needs a very, very little amount of lubrication. Remove lube if there is too much on it. Follow the directions in this clip

- Using the gst kit will force a higher dwell setting. So a value of 14.5ms is recomended.

Assuming a long enough dwell setting to ensure that all the air stored in the bolt kit is released, then with the same pressure in both cases, having the VVC screw all the way out should actually provide at least the same if not a higher velocity then if the screw is all the way in, as there is more air available to propel the ball.

DO NOT install an LP spring if you are using a tank w/ an HP reg. have your tank tested and make sure it is pumping out 800-850 psi. if not you might need to service your reg. only install an LP spring if you know for sure your tank reg is LP 400-450 psi or midoutput 600-650 psi (guerilla air).

VVC all the way out will actually help increase velocity. think of the VVC as an adjustable tophat mod. all the way in is less air volume in the chamber. more efficiency but less smooth. VVC all the way out is more air. less efficient but smoother shot.

Okay well my tank is currently being serviced because the LP burst disk busted.
and by reading what i have hear tells me its just the dwell.

if not i'll keep everyone at eclipse posted to see what happens.

if your burst disk busted, then it busted for a reason. something was not right with your tank. once you get it serviced i'm sure that'll fix your problem and allow you to get your velocity up. dwell for GST bolt should be 14.5 set your geo to that and when you get your tank back, you should be back in business.

The LP burst disk rupturing would tend to indicate that *too* much pressure were being sent to the marker's inline reg rather than too little. LP burst disks are normally rated to 1800psi, so for the disk to rupture, more than 1800psi built up between the tank's output and the Geo's inline reg.

In this case, the Geo's low velocity certainly wasn't caused by too little pressure!
