Who are the 'brand name' pro's?
Here's an easy one.
I'm not asking who is the best. I'm asking who are the most popular pro players. No correct answers.
I am simply curious who "Joe Average Paintballer" thinks are the really top shelf names.
Clearly Ollie is one. I'm not sure if Greg Hastings counts, but he's a big big name. Nicky Cuba.
Who else? Gimme your top 3 or 5 or 10.

Brandon Short
Billy Wing
Thomas Taylor
Todd Martinez
Not necessarily the best of the best... but those names are well known to me. I think when pros do things on top of just playing... their name gets out there more. Ex: Billy's Dye promotions, Brandons blog/website.

If your referring to matty marshall, pretty sure he doesnt play at all.
Lang, Cuba, Federov, Fraige, Greenspan, Billy B, Moorehead, Justin Rabackoff, Bryan Smith, and either Archie or Rusty Glaze. Those are some dominate and newer pros that I would put at the top. Maybe b-short in there too.

I think that a lot of it has to do with where you play and live, me growing up in the New Jersey/PA area I looked up to those players that I saw locally.
I still remember in 08 before Houston was going to happed seeing the Hurricanes and Arsenal playing at PBA. It was then that I first saw J-Rab play and knew he was good. Midwest paintball is its own bread, with players looking up to the few teams left there, Aftershock and Avalance etc. The same thought goes for the rest of the country. There are few players that are universally known like Ollie, Troll, etc. So to make my list:
J-Rab
K-Fed
Glen Takamoto
Tim Montrsessor
Many of these players are known across the country and maybe world because of PSP webcast and videos like H4AD

I think it just boils down to publicity. Prominent placement in popular paintball videos, DVDs, magazines, etc. Playing well at events and getting recognition for it in print, and also having commentators talking about you. Working for prominent companies in the industry. Being active on pbnation. Having a blog, or posts about you on other blogs (propaintball.com, etc.) helps also.
I would say Chris Hooker is an up-and-coming brand just because the amount of time Matty Marshall talks about him shooting people off the break in VICIOUS' games.
