Actually that pump was pretty cool. Obviously it could use a bit more refinement. It would certainly be one of the more unique pumps out there. Autotrigger would take it's tole on your thumb though.

If my math is correct. Looks like 2011 can be a free for all for cocker makers.

Please feel free to correct me, just some thoughts and a little google foo.
Actually, I think patents filed before 1995 expire in 17 years.

Jack told me about this project about a year ago during a telephone conversation. He told me he wanted to compete in the entery-mid market with the etek and pmr. I was under the impression that it's was electric, but I don't remember if we ever went over that. I do know that he said that's it's impossible to compete in this market with a all American made marker and he was looking at the production of this to be over seas in Asia. That's about all I remember.

as long as it has the tolerances of the indy, and the quality feel i wouldn't mind it being Asian made. others may disagree with the Asian made part but gotta make a few bucks to stay alive nowadays. And aiming for a mid-end means lower price and less profit.

for me, part of the appeal of Alien is that they're American made. If Jack puts a gun into production in Asia I definitely won't be buying it. I'm still trying to get my hands on an Indy though.

I would rather see an 5-600 dollar American made mech than a 400 dollar overseas made electro. But I would still buy it no matter what, Alien is a great company.

Well...
A couple of guns have been included here.
First, yes I have looked into doing a gun overseas and selling it for the $550 - $650 price. This is something I have talked about with some of the teams that shoot my guns, but not something I am doing.
Second I have a "new" mechanical marker that I have been testing. Uses the same bolt and valve. Is a 100% mechanical - sear tripper but not a blowback, so you could put a electric trigger frame on it. Problem is that to do a low end gun (still would be $250 - $300) takes a lot of sales, so you need big inventory to get going. Don't look for this gun in the next 18 months and I will be fortunate to bring it out in 2012.
Yes I have been looking at doing a pump - but not based on the ND - based on the sear tripper.
That's all from me - everything else is trade secrets

PUMP ND WOULD BE AWESOME!!! There is such a HUGE pump following that it's nuts, and they are the most hardcore and dedicated player group out there. I live in Minnesota and I have friends that have traveled to Hawaii just for pump games! Look at the Spring Pump Event in Illinois every year, people travel from all over for that. The coolest thing ever would be to make it like a conversion kit for your ND, I know that won't be easy, but I almost never use my phantom anymore (and I LOVE my phantom so much I plan to be burried with it when I die) since it's a totaly different setup than my ND. I think that if you made a pump kit for the ND you'd have a lot of people standing at the door with cash in hand.

What would be nice, but this would never happen, would be if they made a metered spool (like a matrix or an ion with a twin tail oring bolt) and put a pneumatic frame on it (basically sell a mech ion). You'd have pro teams in psp beg you to sponsor them so that they could have an unfair rate of fire advantage over the other team (15+ bps vs 12.5 or whatever the limit is). But this'll never happen.

It would then be illegal in the PSP as you would have to still shoot 12.5

no unless they changed the rules this year, in the past any mech gun (defined as a gun without a battery in it) as long as it doesnt have an R/T effect it can utilize an unlimited rate of fire.

because agd is no longer allowed to sell pnu frames thanks to a cease and desist order, and they are also too small right now to sponsor pro teams. And think about it this way, what pro team can afford to custom make a big batch of 1k pnumags without a sponsorship? What team wants to? Ironmen might have the resources but they have a rather nice total sponsorship from dye, and I bet they'd lose the whole deal if they dropped dye guns.

AGD never sold pneu frames.

Regardless, there are probably a couple reasons you don't see custom pneumags in the PSP. One big reason is sponsorship limitations. The biggest reason probably is that, while possible to shoot faster than 10.5 or 12.5, it requires a good bit of work and extremely fast fingers. For the great majority of us, it's probably a better idea to focus more on the game and just tap the trigger for those 3-round bursts.

on an on-topic note, i'm always excited to see new products, particularly when pump or mech play is concerned. there's a big old school revival afoot.

they still received a cease and desist from that company that owns the patent to the pnu-frames regardless.
