It makes the RX smoother and softens the noise a bit, and might do a bit for efficiency. I'd say yes, but that's just me and my excessive tinkering talking.

I'd say go for it if you don't need the $50. Always nice to tweak every last drop of performance out of her. Then throw an RF chip and Prophecy on her and watch the lasers fly !

I actually preferred the stock bolt. Although the gold bolt allowed me to drop my LPR pressure slighly, the top pin came out and and the anticlipping design seemed less effective than the stock bolt.

I loved my Blitz bolt, which has the same anti-clipping design.

Sorry, but the way this is worded is confusing me a bit. Less chance the bolt pin wont fall out with the gold bolt, so more chance that it will fall out with the gold bolt? The pin falling out of the bolt is more of a gold bolt issue than a stock bolt?
Sorry again, but my reading comprehension is pretty awesome at times

Gold bolt has two pins. The top pin came out on many of the gold bolts (including mine). I fixed the problem once and for all by drill out the hole, tapping it and putting in a set screw with red loctite.

Hm... good to know. I'm hopefully getting an rx sometime in the near future to go with the clone, and I was probably going to get a gold bolt for it.

The pins can come out on both the Gold and normal bolts, but the problem is much more frequent in the stock bolt design, where the pin is seated in plastic instead of aluminum. I have a stock bolt sitting in my RX case that has the entire section of the bolt from the pin backwards completely snapped off, which just won't happen in a Gold bolt. Getting a bolt with a loose pin is annoying, Gold or not, but one drop of superglue and a few light taps with the hammer will fix the problem.
