Droid breaking paint... fixed!

I was using my droid this weekend and right out of my gear bag it was breaking paint (fist broken ball in the gun since i've owned it). I always clean and make sure my gun is properly lubed and running at proper pressure before each day so it was a mystery to me. I checked the battery with a tester and it was still a really good battery. but i noticed the clip that holds onto the 9v battery (harness side) was spread a little to far, so even though the battery was clipped in it wasnt making full contact. I used a set of pliers and gently crimped in the prongs (be very careful) to get better contact. The gun ripped the rest of the day without a ball break. I just thought I would post this as something to look for if everything else is right on your marker but you're still breaking paint.

MD for life!

That's really odd. I don't think that's what caused your ball break problem, though. If the board was not getting enough power you'd definitely notice other problems, and probably not even be able to shoot.

the gun sounded inconsistant while shooting and thats the only thing I changed to get it to stop. it was brand new paint that i was shooting too. like i said, I never have problems breaking paint, even if everone else is. This seems to have fixed the problem. is there some other explination for it? is there something else i should look for?

I'm not sure. It just seems coincidental to me.

As to the reports of breaking paint, that seemed like it was Clone users that were reporting it lately (because of the detents), not Droid users.

Well, to be clear, I didn't say it definitely wouldn't cause ball breakage, it just seems very unlikely. With that said, I've seen some boards do odd things before, but usually just when they're broken.

i have seen numerous boards from different companies maintain power after the battery is removed (including the drone board)

its quite possible that a battery that has a jerky connection will allow the board just enough power to 1/2-3/4 cycle the noid/bolt... which could technically cause breaks just as much as an imporper air flow.....

could be an explanation to why

i also concur, while not very likely it is not an impossible theory. Board will maintain power for a little while, causing half cycles and possibly not a full on/off when it loses power. Uber rare but i've seen stranger...explain to me a gun that gains velocity as you drop dwell....dwell and dwell alone O_o
this was happening to an old droid i had which subsequently had a cracked valve...but riddle me that
