I've pumped against electro's. Hell, I've STOCK CLASS pumped against electro's. The only thing I didn't like is that they wipe my hits because they can't stand that someone is actually better than them.

While they're reloading the hopper they just wasted shooting at an empty bunker, I sneak up and one-ball them. It's fun. Heh heh.

Plus nobody knows what my marker is. But then I'm not good with marker names either.

I had an amazing vs semi today. 2 v 2 and as soon as we broke from the net I shot from the hip (I shoot 1 ball down the lane as I run) and it hit the guy in the waist and he was out. I got to my bunker, popped up to check out where the last guy was and gogged the back center with the next shot. 2 shots, 2 kills.

I had a day like that today where things happened that way alllll day long. 1 v 2 and the guy tried to run to snake. I missed the first one and led him out some. Shot him in the barrel and then went and finished his buddy. It was just beautiful all day long

You guys are all so full of yourselves...

If you play players who are in your same skill range, and they can shoot more paint and control you, they will win. Pretty much every time.

Good job shooting newbs with your pumps!

(I play pump by the way.)

Because those players CAN doesn't mean they WILL. If you're going by that line of logic, I'm significantly better than some local D2/3 players... and I know I'm not that good. There's far too much to consider to simply use the argument you have, and if you were a serious pump player, you would know that.

far too many variables....

you may play pump, but you don't come off as a pump player.

To play pump is to take on a challenge. To accept that you must learn more than trigger technique and laning. To play pump against semi at any level says that your willing to get "torched" to learn to play better than the next guy. In the past I played open class pump. Yesterday I went stock class for 5 hours just to work on my skillset. 3 tippmans and everything else was an electro. Yes I had some good /awesome moments, but at the end of the day I had more welts than I could count. I did not go to "PWN" anyone I went to learn to play better and to accept the challenge.

Someone asked me yesterday, "What's the advantage to playing pump?" and I looked at him and said "absolutely nothing"

He was really confused and was like "why play it?" and I just explained that the disadvantage I put myself at is an advantage to me because I enjoy the challenge more.

Plus I can't afford to feed my electro monsters lol

All that being said, you do not want to meet me in the woods when I am rolling with my ego 08 if all you have is a pump. My rig is light, accurate and presents a small target. Pumps and the players who shoot them have zero advantage against good players who shoot semi's. And yes, I still have a pump but can't honestly find a good reason to use it on a regular basis.

This is exactly the point I like to make in regards to pump play. I too, learned how to play paintball when pumps were the only thing to play with. When I bought a semi for the first time, I still played like I had a pump, but with extra firepower. I think there's a difference between players who started with a pump and then moved to semi as opposed to someone who started out with a fast gun. In fact, based on a lot of the responses I read here on the pump forum, I frankly don't think a lot of you have ever played against a decent semi player. I've noticed myself that the majority of semi players nowadays lack the basic skills that pump play forces you to learn.

Fast forward to today, and my two main semis are just as light and the same size as my pump, and I am absolutely as good at snap shooting and playing in general with them. One of my buddies plays pump exclusively and we are about equal when we both have pumps but he doesn't stand a chance when I've got my semis. (As an aside - whenever I find myself in a 1 on 1 situation with him, I tend to one-ball when gunfighting him so he can't claim "it was the firepower that allowed you to beat me." Lol.)

And that's how I've felt whenever someone posts that they can "pwn" semis with their pumps, and whatnot. I say to myself - I'd like to see you do that to me and a team of good semi players. I know it's possible. But unlikely at best.

Honestly, the only reason I play pump now is to save money on paint and to handicap myself when playing less experienced players - not because it is some inherently "pure" way to play or some other nonsense.

Haha I've had the exact same conversation with many people with the "absolutely no advantage whatsoever" comment and people just give me this puzzled look.

I play pump because I'm a poor bastard. Yes, I find it more fun to pump vs pump. If I go to the field to play and there are no other pumpers to play against am I going to leave? Hell no. If I came to play, I'll play, but I don't go out of my way to play D3/D2 teams with my pump just to prove something. That's stupid.

The guys I know that pump, but also play semi are crazy scary with a semi. They keep the "pump mind and skill set" and then also have the firepower. It's a deadly combo. I'd love to be one of those players, but when I pick up a semi, my wife and my wallet yell at me.

seems to be that way, I played many games against semis and very few against pump players/teams. I would love to try to get some pump only experience more often. It just dosent seem to be out there a lot of the time.

If you are in dana point Velocity has a pump day every last sunday of the month. It's pump only and has a good amount of players.

Also SC village has a good amount of pump players every sunday at the aftermath arenas

I don't know what it is but when I grab my mini, my back up, I automatically go back to old habits of spray and pray. I hate myself for it. That is one of the reasons I mainly play stockclass. I feel that I put myself at a disadvantage when I pick up my mini. When I want a real disadvantage I pick up my OLD impulse and a dolly to carry it.

Use a single finger on your electro/mech semi guns, and turn off ramping. Chances are you'll see a difference.
