Geo Questions

Ive owned almost every eclipse ego on the market to date. Well, i traded my ego9, for a vgeo. I was wondering since ive never owned one ove these, how are they. Ive heard that sometimes they have alot of problems but if you get a good one your set. PLEASE LET ME KNOW EVERYTHING I SHOULD KNOW

Best gun I've owned in my almost 8 years of playing. This gun is a killer. It has claimed more lives than I can count. It's definitely worth the $ especially with the ST kit in. With the ST Kit the gun will shoot smooth like a luxe and will have ball on ball accuracy.

There were some common issues with early versions of the Geo - not surprising really considering that it was a new direction for Planet and it was full of new parts that were unique to the Geo. As problems became apparent, fixes were developed, and most impressively, not only were these introduced in to production straight away, but they were provided as free upgrades to the owners of early Geos. Can't argue with that for service.

Yes, you'll still see people having occasional issues with a Geo - that's the same for any marker, from any company. People will break something, or use the wrong size o-rings, or use an LP output air system, or use too much grease, or use a dollar store battery etc. then complain that the marker doesn't work. There's always scope for user error, particularly with a new platform. People don't know how to use the marker properly because they don't read the manual.

In the vast majority of cases though, the Geo isn't a "problematic" marker - the problems have been quickly ironed out. It's just a reputation it gained during the early days when the teething problem were being worked out, and when the new owners were working out how to look after it.

Maintenance wise, it's pretty easy for a spool - very few o-ring for one thing. Keep them clean, replace when worn, and use just enough grease to make the o-rings look shiny - not a marker to be caking grease on. But hey, that's a good thing right - your tube of grease lasts longer. There are a couple of 14x2 o-rings, one on the bolt and one on the Propshaft, and they are critical to teh Geo's correct function. Some people try #014s, or other o-rings that are a similar size, and it just doesn't work right - it's got to be the 14x2 o-rings. Other than that, you can't go far wrong with maintenance. That and a supply of fresh quality batteries and you are good to go.

In relation to the air system, the first thing to be aware of is that the Geo has a fairly narrow operating pressure range - there's not that big a difference between the highest pressure you would want to send to the solenoid, the average operating pressure, and the lowest pressure at which the marker will cycle reliably. The next thing to take in to account is that the Geo's reg isn't balanced. That isn't intended as a negative, just a statement of fact - fact is that very few HPRs used in paintball are truly balanced or pressure compensating, or any of the other buzz words that people like to use in relation to regulators. It's not uncommon to find that a large difference in input pressures will lead to a difference in the output pressure from the reg.

So what does all that mean? If you use an HP output tank, set the velocity with the Geo's inline reg, and *then* remove the HP output tank and screw in an LP output tank instead, the output pressure from the inline reg will drop, and the velocity will drop with it.

Equally, if you start with the LP output tank, your inline reg pressure will be lower, and your velocity would be lower, so you would have to crank up the regs output pressure to get your marker up to the right velocity.

Now comes the important part. If you set up your reg with an LP output tank, cranked up the pressure, and *then* switch to an HP output tank, the pressure from the inline reg would increase, and you may actually send too much pressure to the solenoid.

To counter this, the inline reg was designed so that the maximum pressure the inline reg could produce when used with an HP output tank was within the safe pressure range of the solenoid. The downside is that with an LP output tank, you may then find that the pressure cannot go high enough to get you full velocity.

make sure you use as little lube as possible! these things require almost none to work wonderfully. this is hands down the best marker i have ever owned and cant imagine going back to anything else (except my ego8 backup of course )

I'm not on the second line but i'll be there to coach on Sunday for you guys. I'll bring my geo so you can shoot it. Fresh orings too and I upped the dwell for the winter so it's buttery smooth. Hope the battery doesn't die again

Mine was the earlier ones that came out (serial 500ish) and honestly I had no problems evern before the GR2 kit came out (except for some grip screws coming loose) and a bumper oring going missing making a slight leak.

Easiest spool to maintain and shoot. Light. And was great with the gst.

Had a good time with her.

I get the new gun blues every now and then, but I have never had a problem with my Geo. Owned over a year and never broke a ball, I still have the stock bolt in it and still shoots awesome.

You have to give any marker some good TLC and READ the manual...Jack Woods is on Youtube, which is nice, to give you an actual idea of how much lube to use.

Now I had an annoying leak that would not go away, changed all orings, did some research on the nation here, posted my issue and holy crap; Jack Woods himself told me that I had a cracked prop shaft. Not sure how I did that, but he told me to contact NickT and he sent me a new one free of charge within the week. Runs smooth as ever!
